I don't trust the in-built conversor, starting by the fact that it doesn't even say Quake Live, just Quake Champions and Quake/Source whatever the fuck that means.

Can I get some accurate formula to translate the values?

Also how do you even set mouse accel value in Diabotical? there's even a fucking graph in there, I have no idea. How do I add cl_mouseaccel 0.2 ?

Directional Gravity in Arena FPS (9 comments)

One of the ideas that I originally wanted to implement in Uber Arena, but halted progress on due to technical limitations / roadblocks (mainly with getting mouse controls to work correctly with angle changes, and I think some of it is buried in the engine source code rather than the Q3 game code), was the idea of directional gravity.

At its most basic, directional gravity would be stuff like walking on walls and ceilings, with items also being located along these planes. But the idea can also be expanded to work with any angle in any direction, allowing for smooth transitions. So you could have a smooth ramp from the floor to the wall, and likewise another from the wall to the ceiling.

To prevent breaking maps, directional gravity would only be enabled on specific surfaces. To allow for strafe jumping the player could "float" a certain distance away from the surface normal, but after a certain distance would "detach" from the gravity field and return to normal gravity. Though that's just one possible idea and maybe there's a better way to handle that.

This idea is pretty simple but would undeniably add a lot of possibilities to level design for arena FPS, much like trampolines, which are in fact implemented in Uber Arena.

The 2006 Prey game is a good example of a game that has tackled antigravity surfaces like this. Portal 2 also initially planned to have a purple gel called the Adhesion Gel which would have this same property, though it was scrapped because it allegedly made playtesters sick.

That whole sickness thing might be a potential roadblock, though who knows how Valve implemented their version of it. Perhaps there is some way that antigravity surfaces could be integrated into arena FPS while ensuring that players don't get sick using them. Ideally, strafe jumping across directional gravity ramps would, if implemented properly, be just as natural as strafe jumping across a flat surface. The transitions should be silky-smooth.

Sometimes people speaking about Q3 use the words "cess" and "cessrail". Can someone explain me what those words exactly mean?

Im finally giving this game a try and the first thing im faced with is with some sort of anti cheat that pops up and says "Updating" or something but it doesn't update, so im stuck. I disabled tinywall and enabled diabotical.exe and diabotical-launcher.exe in the windows folder protection exception thing in windows 10 and same shit

Why wouldn't this fucking work already?

And eventually it prompted a window with "do you want to play offline" and I said yes just to test with it bots. Well, there are no bots, and none of the training maps work, I press play and it wouldn't do nothing.

So wtf is going on with this?

This is despite the fact that there are about 20 opponents on the leaderboard for agent jkezoor.

Take TDM modes, this tournament system can replace "pickups" in discord.

Thus, on the one hand, 2gd invites streamers to promote the game, and on the other hand, it scares away viewers from the game with a long search time. And not only streamers but also players.

2DG did not implement it and lost to me.

The cpma CPMA Community will be hosting a CPMA 2v2 League. As for now, the tournament format is two stage tournament, with a round robin group stage and single elimination play-off with BO3 bracket, and BO5 Grand Finals.

Registration will be open from September 12th, 18:00 CET till September 26th, 18:00 CET, 2020. Games will commence on September 28th. To register please join the CPMA Discord Server and message @neverGreen#3910 for a participant role.

My bro built me a PC out of old parts during lockdown, I bought a 240hz monitor to use with it. frames were like 150-180 in Quake so my bro gave me a GTX 1080, now frames are 160-200.
The PC as it stands is i5 2500K at 4.2Ghz, 8gb ram 1333Mhz along with the 1080. I don't want to go as far as upgrading the mother board and CPU and ram so these are my two options:-

1/ Upgrade the ram to 16Gb 2133Mhz and overclock the CPU further (it's liquid cooled and runs really cool).

or

2/ Upgrade the ram to 16Gb 2133Mhz and put in an i7 3770k (the fastest cpu my motherboard will take) and overclock that to mid 4Ghz?

The first option will cost about £60, the second option will cost £160.

Hi all - its me. cK-mojo. Looking to reconnect with anyone who remembers me, and try to remember as many stories from the q3 glory days. I think for me I was active around 1999-2002 or so. I've spent the last couple days finding so many good old stories and seeing so many familiar names talked about. I obviously remember my cK crew well. But haven't interacted with anyone for almost 20 years, so my memory is really spotty about everything.

At the time I was about 15-16 years old and was totally in love with competing in q3. Given my situation though, was never able to travel to the big tournaments. The one I made was QIL4 in St. Louis since it was so close to my hometown Kansas City. That one I took 2nd behind czm. I don't remember the score, but I know he owned me!! The biggest bummer at the time - they never paid anyone. Anyone know why?

Also, would REALLY love to see if anyone could point me to any demo's they might have of me. Perhaps the QIL4 ones are all saved somewhere? Otherwise, I know I played a bunch of TDM games with cK over those couple years.

Another thing - sounds like there was another well known mojo that emerged after me? Is that confusing? Do people think we were the same?

Anyway, just wanted to get this started. Having fun thinking these days and watching some of the videos on youtube.

r_mapoverbrightbitscap 220 is ok for DM6 and ZTN for instance and it gives it the look I want that I used to have in Q3, but it's a clusterfuck of brightness in other maps like House of Decay, Asylum, Trinity... so i've been forced to change this r_mapoverbrightbitscap value pretty much every time the map is changed which is hell.

Was there a good workaround for this? I don't want to resort to using this dark nonsense setup. I like my Q3 to look nice and clean like it's 2001

Akiles never cheated, he performed excellent in WCG2002. He was very good, could have been a dominant player if he had a decent internet connection to practice with and better LAN partners, also he was like 25+ back then and stopped playing as much. In any case, this guy is supposed to be a Quake historian, and he just dropped the cheater bomb just like that. What a joke. Im assuming he confused him with SombrA which was accused of cheating given an screenshot (and some made a case for it being a setup). It's either that or he is the average fanboy that hates when their idols get beaten by the guy that was supposed to lose. Or just good ole brittardation twisting historical facts against all things Spain.

In any case, Akiles never cheated. Imagine you spend years perfecting a craft to have some supposed expert were people go to to learn facts from and the guy says you are a cheater. Or some lazy ass "oh I think he was caught cheating later on on some online tournament, so even if he was the second best player in the world in 2002 it doesn't matter, but im a certified historian". Honestly what a fucking tool.

Expected flux to work with a modern exe but doesnt. R_ignorehwgamma does nothing, i changed from 1 to 0 doing vid restart and also from 1 to 0 and just does fucking nothing. I cant play without flux at night, its too bright, and if I dont disable flux, it's too dark.

There will be 3 subjects,

1st one will be about FOV.
2nd one will be about DPI.
3rd one will be why you shouldn't trust most pros settings.

Those topics will be theoreticals and backed up with facts.

1°)FOV:

The consensus is that, when playing fast-paced "arcade" fps (or AFPS is you prefer), you better have to alter your fov's value and particularly increase the default value that is 90 (4:3) on most games.
This is where it gets interesting; there's actually no point to increase your fov's value above 95, in 2015+.
You will instantly tilt and say to me "retard, fov is only personal preference, and a higher fov gives you larger angles of vision, thus making it an advantage over "low" fov."
The thing is, you have to take into consideration that fov 90 on 4:3 is NOT the same than fov 90 on 16:9. The same thing for fov 90 at 1080p(1920) compared to fov 90 at 600p(800).
Basically, the wider your aspect ratio, the higher your screen resolution, the more angle vision you will get from fov 85/90.
There's also the vertical fov, that's prolly the only type of fov that won't change much from screenres and aspect ratio.
But we are talking mainly about horizontal fov there, as most people do care mostly about horizontal fov.

Now you'll ask me, "why would I stop using my 105 fov @ 16:9, I love the very large horizontal angle vision that it gives, I can see people coming from the sides of my screen earlier than cunts using low fov, this is clearly an advantage".
Yes but... No!
Yes, because obviously you can see more people at the same time with such an insanely wide angle vision.
But no, you won't get any real advantage actually, because the higher your fov, the worst your mouse will feel, in a sense that it will just make it both slower and less snappy, as well as less "pixel perfect" type of aiming possibilities.
The remaining downsides of high fov is that everything appears smaller, while the "camera motion" will feel kind of unnatural, as the whole screen has a deformation especially at the edges of it. Try some ridiculous values like 130+ and you'll understand my point better, and prolly also get motion sickness. Keep the same sensitivity, then try 90 afterwards. The camera motion will feel tremendously more natural and "round", so to speak; and making a perfect circle with your mouse will be easier.

Another thing that you have to know, is that 90 fov @ 4:3 is 90 horizontally, while at 16:9 it's actually ~106(!).
Basically with the current gaming monitors, you get much larger horizontal vision without even adding deformations at the edge of the screen neither giving "motion sickness" compared to an old CRT.

Fov 103+ made sense on a CRT, but doesn't make any sense on a recent gaming monitor.

To summerize, fov 90 on a current gaming monitor is actually almost the equivalent of fov 100+ on an old CRT, and on top of that, the screen deformation that you get from a CRT will be almost non inexistant on your recent gaming monitor.

2°)DPI:

It's fair to say that mice that use 16 000dpi as a marketing value is so wrong at so many levels. We all agree on the fact that 8 000+ dpi is literally useless.
Actually anything above 3500dpi still doesn't make sense at all. Will prolly make sense on 8K monitors, but considering that 4K isn't even the standard yet... we got plenty of time.

Now the real deal, DPI actually matter! As long as you stay within a "reasonable" range.
Why does it matter ?
First of all, all mice with 3310/3360/3366/3389 etc sensors actually perform without any prediction/smoothing/shitsThatMakeSensorFeelBad at any dpi values from 400 to <3500dpi. Above 3500dpi, things are getting fucked up because of predictions added to the way the sensor behaves etc.

Have you ever heard of pixel skipping ? I guess so, but you might be unaware by the fact that it happens even at 1600dpi. Basically, whenever your sens is above 1 (value in quake/source engines), you get pixel skipping, to some degrees.
To have a better understanding of pixel skipping, you might want to try 400dpi with sens 8 and then try 3200dpi with sens 1. Zoom in, put a tiny dot as crosshair, and move your mouse very slowy on a wall. At 400dpi, the mouse will cleary skip pixels, while at 3200dpi, it will be pixel perfect. It's especially true if you play at 1080p+. It's especially true if your screen res is FULLHD or 4K.
Pixel skipping is altered by the relation between your sens value, your dpi value and your screen resolution.

Another example, 1600dpi sens 1 at 4K res will make it skip some pixels, while at 1080p, no pixel skipping at all. The solution then if you're playing at 4K ? Try 3200dpi sens 1, skipping will be gone again.
800dpi sens 1 will not skip pixels at 720p/768p/600p while skipping some of them at 1080p, and skipping a fairly large amount of them at 4K+.

It's almost always better to increase your dpi value rather than your sens value if you want a higher sens.
Pixel skipping is a thing, for real, and it happens way sooner than you might think.
Some people still think that 800dpi sens 2+ doesn't have pixel skipping and that it only becomes noticeable on past sens 5+. The reality is that THERE IS pixel skipping at sens 2+, but barely noticeable in most situations, at least compared to sens 5+.

"Now what?", you ask me.
I'd say, set your sens value accordingly to your dpi value and screen res.
Basically, if you're a very low/ultra low sens player, and you're not on 4K screen res, then 400dpi might still be an option, especially if you're still using 4:3 low screen res (CRT-like).
If you're on 1080p and your sens is med/low, 800dpi could be a solution... At least if you don't mind at all having little amount of pixel skipping.
If you're on 720p and your sens is low, 800dpi is the solution.
If you're on a high sens, 3200dpi might be the best choice. But never go past 3500dpi, and 400dpi is an outdated value that obviously can still work decently, but actually makes no sense in 2020.

3°)Most pros don't know shit.

The reason why prolly 80% of the pros are still using 800dpi is only because there's an old video of a logitech engineer in which he said "anything above 800dpi is not possible unless you add "artificial pixels" which would result in more calculation from the sensor and thus making it less snappy, let alone accurate (which was true back in the days, but not true anymore with 90% of the modern optical sensors).
The other reason is because most pros haven't tried anything else than 800dpi and they don't see the point to do so, they play with what they're used to, for years.
All of these reasons + placebo and psycological effect "I'll play worst on 1600+dpi, and I feel comfy enough with my current 800dpi, so why change?"

Here is his biggest mistakes. Just look at it.

-Classic FFA mode(brawl). He included it to the game. This is absolutely broken shit. He think that jumpiung without weapons, and spawnfest is fun. And this is become more worse when pplayer playing this shit instead of playing TDM, which one he wants to make the main trend in this game.

Keep in mind this thread is only about the Champions mechanic (primary / secondary abilities; weight classes; cooldown pickups), and nothing else. Things like netcode, framerate, visual clarity, other gameplay components, etc. are not relevant to this discussion. That isn't to say that they're not important, because they are and there's definitely some pressing issues there, but they're separate from the Champions mechanic and they've been discussed quite a bit elsewhere.

Because I love reading interesting discussions and in the interest of doing some research, I'm curious to know, after 3 years, what the current thoughts are on the Champions gameplay mechanic.

Hate it? Love it? Used to hate it but now like it, or vice versa? Like the idea but not the execution? Like some of the champions but not others? Some are overpowered / underpowered perhaps? Too many champions? Maybe you don't care for how champions are unlocked / accessed? If you feel like Champions aren't a good mechanic, what other new mechanic would you propose to replace it?

Will be interesting to hear your thoughts.

OK, duel 1x1 approved. I'm confusing because of my bad english and not see all\full streams.

But the irony that, anyway we need some compensations . That system http://www.esreality.com/post/2955906/diaboti...ments-wtf/ helps to gather players TDM or 1x1 better then MM queue. Imagine we have not "MM queue search", but if we have tournament system inside the game, we can gather players anyway in any date in any time.

And all that tricks with reducing queue times ... this is just a 30% of 2GD can do.

Hi guys, I've just gotten into quakelive after many years of inactivity. I'm in need of a clean config for clan arena (not into duelling).

After something squeaky clean, preferably on the darker side with bright keel enemy models. Something with a clean HUD including only the stuff needed for clan arena.

I'm never sure what keys to bind things to so help with that will be much appreciated too so I can change weapons quickly and be competitive.

Since there will be no Diabotical duel tournaments. I think we need some compensation.

Custom online tournaments LIST within the game. Should be in main menu as advertisement.

Why inside the game?

+ No need to check internet sites. One platform and it is visible to everyone. As a result, it is easier to gather people.
+ In-game tournament bracket.
+ Everything is automated. Time between games. Time to warm up. The system kicks latecomers.
+ No admins needed.
+ Tournament results are saved and easily exported to html format.
+ Tournament conditions are set by the creator. and they can be read before joining the tournament. ELO Glicko range option. Gamemode option. Timelimit option and so on .... Map pool .. Date. Maximum players, minimum players.


Also:

+ NO ADMINS NEEDED. !!!!!
+ Internet problems? - you out

+ We can see the nickname of the tournament creator

AFAIK from Google Maps, the 1930s-era bunker where the B1 LAN's was held is located on the corner of two busy streets in Berlin. Just a few of my endless questions about this:

Any idea what was this bunker was built to protect from? I could be wrong but I thought it said was built in 1931. Was it an aerial bombardment bunker? Or an artillery shell bunker? Was it was constructed because Berlin was under attack, or was it more like a safeguard for the future? How common is it for a 1930's bunker to have survived structurally to today? After the war ended, what were the common peace-time conversions for these structures? Are these bunkers ever so successfully converted that it's possible to forget the original war-time purpose for the building? And is there discourse in German society regarding the historical context of a bunker like this, and if so, would that be similar in any way to the conversation that we are having in the U.S. now regarding race and Civil War monuments?

Sorry for too many questions. Basically any info at all would please be greatly appreciated!

Hello everyone.

I am sharing what is believe is the perfect config for Quake Live. The config strikes a balance between the best performance and visibility whilst maintaining a pleasureable aesthetic.

To get the config properly working it might be necessary to set /r_refreshrate to your preferred value and/or remove the following command lines from the file:
/r_lastValidRenderer "GeForce GTX 760/PCIe/SSE2",

r_customHeight "1024",
r_customWidth "1600".

Otherwise all that is left as per usual is to bind your own keys and set your own fov and sensitivity. Also set your own name with cg_selectedPlayerName "X". This can also be done after the fact.

Optional settings that are also worth mentioning which were borrowed from Heartless' config:

/r_mapOverBrightCap "145"
Whether these are needed, it depends on one's own monitor aswell as the preferred brightness and gamma settings.
And lastly /r_teleporterflash "0"
This command will change the white screen appearing after exiting a teleporter to a black one, if that is more pleasing to the eye on your setup.

I appreciate anyone taking the time to test this config and hope it will be a great addition to the Quake Live experience.

Hype post for the QPL Stage 4 finals this weekend.



Cypher and k1llsen still looking as good as in the Stage 3 finals. They will be tough to beat. Rapha also seemingly unaffected from his recent tragic loss (ofc, he's a robot).
Raisy probably won't be going anywhere, but as a kind of replacement, vengeurr has been really coming into his own. Even av3k, Chain, Dooi, and some others might potentially be good for a surprise. And ofc you can never count out Cooller having a once-in-a-decade day and just owning everyone.

Hello, here's yet another Quake 4 fragmovie. Cos why not. At this point, I'd actually love to make something using replays that are not from over a decade ago (2007-2010), but apparently game developers these days couldn't care less to implement replay support. Welp, too bad.

I recently had to switch from Vegas to Premiere, and this fragmovie was just supposed to be a tiny project to get used to the program. I'm surprised that it turned out to be a somewhat decent fragmovie.

I really enjoy Diabotical however its going to fail unless the community aspects of the game become much more addictive and easy to grow.

I remember back in the day playing on servers for hours in q1/q2/q3.

The reason I would stay on a server and keep playing was the 'community' aspect of it.

Servers were packed with people spectating and talking shit about the people playing.


Diabotical needs to make itself feel like a community of people IN THE LOBBY before choosing a game mode or activity.

Ok so THIS is my idea and may or may not be feasible but it is how Diabotical should work.

In Counterstrike there are certain servers you join to buy and sell goods for csgo skin trading.

This server is used for trading and can hold a shitton of people.

Traders have to meet on this server so they can see the skins they are buying in game so people use it to meet up. *like a lobby of a MMORPG*

There are "portals/doors" that people can walk into and have their own privacy.

Diabotical should function this way. There should be servers with 32 players that act as the 'Lobby' where people can meet up and chat and also strafe around and such.

On the servers you have portals to go into the arena of choice. A bunch of you can just decide ok guys we have 8 ppl right now waiting to play, lets go into the TDM portal and then they do it and it warps them into a game. After the TDM game finishes, they rejoin the lobby which already has a lot of people waiting and chilling and they can pick another portal to go into.

This would build a 'community' inside diabotical that it truely needs to survive.

You can also use it to just chill and strafe jump around on the servers without doing anything.

This would be the exact same 'feel' that rocket arena 3 gave us when we had those huge maps and the individual 1v1 or 2v2 maps.

Also heres another idea for the 'community' idea.

I remember a long time ago on Mplayer.com they had a Lobby system. So it was a webpage that had multiple square icons that acted like seperate rooms. In the lobby it showed all of them from each region and which people were waiting inside it to start the game.

You can view and create and launch any mode from inside the rooms and invite anyone into it and play in that room for hours with your friends if you so choose.

You would be able to see the list of people who are trying to play the game on the lefthand side like IRC and click and invite them to your lobby.

It also had universal chat. It was good because it gave you a sense that you can invite people to play right away and see the player health of the game and reassure you that there are people playing.

You get to meet new people and add them to your friends list and can co-ordinate with them when to play even if the player health of the game is bad.

I don't want any reason to quit Diabotical the game. I want to just have it launched and be able to interact with all players that also have it loaded.

Basically built in IRC/Discord. Just filter the fuck out of the chat.
Create Diaboticals OWN words and vernacular.
Have a list of taunts/swear words created for diabotical for people to smack talk others if they so choose.

So even kids can get into it without having real world harmful effects.

Also sell Graffiti (like csgo sprays) so you can customize your slogan/smack talk and spray paint it on the maps

More ideas:

So in game modes where teammates quit and you are left with 4v3 or 3v2. There needs to be TWO things that can happen.

1) If the game was close then you need to have AUTOSPEC the lowest/worst player on the team that has more people.

1b) If the team score is not close then a 'Bot' AI should join the game on the loser side so that they dont feel too bad and the game can finish.

There were bots in quake3 that could strafe jump and fight really well.Spiterbot was the name

Another idea are frag movies INSIDE the game.

The ability to cut/paste a frag you did while playing from some demo format and then be able to create a frag movie and share it.

YOU NEED PEOPLE TO SHARE DIABOTICAL VIDS!

This will help people get more interested in the game and they will gravitate to it.

For the dodge button:

I haven't used it at all since it feels abnormal however i think I have an idea on how to make it proper for diabotical.

It should be a Dive Kick.

You use it in air not to double jump, but to immediately get downward force as if you are in gravity. This means you can jump and then dive kick another location (angled left/right/forward/back) to stop ur jump from being long in order to juke guys leading or trying to hit you with rockets.

This may or may not work using jumppad/ being in the air - depends on testing and how people react to it.

I can already see myself using it to fake jump attack people and dive back down.

Another idea is for the dodge to become grapple.

1 Grapple to launch yourself and cooldown would be 10 seconds or so. Grapple serves as a very fun mechanic to basically dodge or attack very quickly. It was extremely fun to do in q1 ctf.

The gameplay would be boosted because the grapple is only 1 shot with a big cooldown. It won't be abused and will add an extra element of fighting which has already been purely explored with quakelive/q3.

My diab stress test weekend summary (26 comments)

So, first of all, I'll tell you if I like the game or not. The answer is, yes, I love it.

It isn't perfect but already near perfection and better than QL/Q3 for quite a lot of aspects.

Keep in mind that QL, altho being an excellent Quake, is still a poorly optimized version of Q3+MODS, current Q3 CPMA is actually smoother than QL,
That said I do prefer vq3/cq3/vql gameplay over CPM considering the fact that it's less extreme, a bit slower, more accessible and slightly more tactical overall.
In term of skillset, both vq3(cq3/vql) and CPM requieres an insanely high skill at sub-top to top level. CPM is still slightly harder tho, but as I grew up (and also right when I started Q3 back in 2001), I actually do enjoy more the guns play, the balance and the pace of vq3(cq3/vql); it's kind of like music tastes, some people enjoy adhd music style, others like slow paced with strong beats more, etc.

All that to point out diabotical gameplay. It... is... the evolution of vq3, we can call it vq3 in 2020, which means a lot. View height is shorter, RL is slightly stronger (which is a good thing considering the fact that RL was already the dominant weaps in many situations at QL, and has always been the most iconic weap of quake), LG has a faster firerate but is harder to play it defensively with highest effectiveness, and very very risky in close range against a RL master. The new idea/approach towards the rail is a nice and refreshing one. Rail is still very strong, rewards high risks/cluth play more, but you gotta think first if you'll chose it in difficult situations, with a lot of tension etc, whereas in Q3/QL, the rail was still a high risk high reward weapon, but much more consistent and predictable, and usually to "easy" at long range.

So yeah, I can see diabotical as a slightly more offensive version of QL/Q3, which is what people usually want from an AFPS in 2018+.

Now let's talk about the performances, graphics, smoothness/responsiveness and features of the game.
Performance: nearly perfect, nothing to really complain about, runs faster than QC and... Fortnite ;P.
Graphics: cartoon art design is needed in 2020, it looks less brutal, more approachable for new players, will prolly bring younger players into the game, doesn't look crap after 5 years (cartoon gfx are lifetime gfx for an e-sport game), and the overall design is simple as fuck, visually very easy to understand, etc. I like it.
Smoothness: I would never have expected saying that so late, but the 125 tickrate coupled with 250+fps, multithreaded inputs and so on, actually makes the game feel so accurate (90% of the time) that sometimes you feel something is wrong... Seems like for so many years we got used to 30 tickrate and rather low fps and "average" netcode etc, so when playing diabotical it feels... too accurate/responsive.
Actually will take time to adapt at 100%.
The features: crosshairs are dope, huds are dope, and no needs to nerds the cfg cvars/commands in order to make the perfect config. All you have to do is to either set it up to default or just put everything to low, maybe import a hud you like from someone else if you're too lazy to make one, set enemies/teamM8s colors, and you're basically done. Kind of like a "plug & play" game, or let's say an "install and play" game.
And the menu looks sexy as fuck, so clean, no bullshit, simple; Perfect.

Last but not least, I do not like neither overwatch nor fortnite, for various reasons, but I actually do love the engines of both games. Having diabotical to be some kind of "in between" feels extremely right to me, there again, smoothness + cartoon = future of e-sport (and actually already present, too).
And having MMR and many other cool features to facilitate a lot the players experience, is obviously something we have to expect in 2020, but it's at FN/OW level, whereas QC, for instance, has it too, but put in a rather "unprofessional/aborted" way, so to speak.

Now let's talk about HEARTLESSS THE FAGGOT MENTALLY ILL DRUG ADDICT ATTENTION WHORE.

My plans remain the same, practicing 6-8 months straight, either be it arena 1v1 or a teammode that isn't TDM (not because I don't like TDM, but just because I'm more than shit and untalented at it, I'm too bad at keeping track of so many informations at the same time and focus on aim, too elitist for me, and too much brain I won't bother learning, I still do understand why so many people love it deeply tho, it's prolly one of the most difficult gamemode ever, altho at the end all gamemodes at top level requiere so much practice and dedication, even instagib), and then setting up my stream with my dope as fuck setup and internet connection :>. And play regularly while streaming and talking/interacting with viewers (if I ever got some ;D, we will see).

This week-end I played approx 90 games of MMR arena 1v1, and... Holy fuck I'm baaaddddd ;D. Not THAT bad but nothing you would expect from a thunderstruck nerd.
I was at peak 1980 SR, top11 the 1st night, then top25 the next day and... 46th at the end of my 2 days practice session.
Yes, this is something to be ashamed from, considering all that cocky and arrogant talking about myself being this or that etc.
I lost to serious obviously, with a significant skillgap between him and me. I lost the fayefps aswell, my rox didn't connect as I wanted them to. I lost to ins. I lost to busdriverx. I lost to... stermy, even tho it was barrow's gate map and I played rail to rail near perfection the 1st minutes but then literally made mistakes over mistakes. And nitrino... dominated me with rox 5 times in a row (we did rematch etc) :D.
That said, I still do beat 1950+ SR rather comfortably.

Now the part that's going to be ego-driven and mindset strengthen.

I am actually not going to give up AT ALL, it is only the beginning, And losing games won't affect my dedication aswell as my motivation and fun having to play. Arena 1v1 has always been my favorite gamemode right when I discovered Quake, and will prolly forever be. It's still so much fun to play to me.
I'm now a 31 year old grown up alpha male (;DDDDDD), as odd as it might sound, my mindset is actually close to perfection atm (except from time to time when I do rage, but I'm a human after all). I've got this kind of raisy's dedication coupled with cooller's arrogance/xp and cypher's comeback abilities.
Losing is part of my practice method. Fearing noone even if currently large skill gap between some players and me. Will play anyone, anytime, whatever the outcome, nothing to lose, everything to learn. People will hate me or support me, but at the end it's a fight against me and myself (not in the evil's way tho :p).
I know that, especially at past 30 year old, I won't improve as fast as I did when I was 10 years younger, but I noticed one thing these past years: as long as I keep enjoying what I'm doing, as long as I play regularly, I tend to improve "naturally", means that it's some kind of sub-conscious improvement(s), you might not notice it even after 2 weeks, but if 1 month has past and I'm still dedicated, this is exactly where I can clearly see an improvement, even if it's a 3-5% improvement, means that the next month will be another 2-4% improvement and so forth. I'm like this kind of an atypical dude that improves endlessly if playing regularly, unlike most players that get stuck to same level after a while. Might sound pretentious, but this is actually how my psychism and hand-eyes coordination as well as xp gain, work :O.

I'd say for me: "as long as I keep my serotonin level slightly above average, as time past I'll get better and better, just like a good froggy wine" :D

Once I'll adjust 110% to short viewheight, faster rox, overall slightly diff weaps def, new maps (even tho arena 1v1 maps are easy to learn), weeballs mastering, the man in the shadow for so long will rise again and make himself the true Heartless.

This is the final installment to the Coloris (She music) series. I had a blast making this movie and experimenting with weird effects, angles and ideas. Brushing off the dust after not editing for so long. Tried to push myself creatively with this and mess around. These clips were meant for another movie I had scrapped in 2012, so they're a bit old.

Is there any easy setup package for running a Q2 server? I've used the nQuakesv package in the past to run a server for people I know, and now I want to try the same for Q2.

Also, I remember there used to be both Q2Starter (http://q2s.tastyspleen.net/) as well as nQuake2, but now nQuake2 seems to be offline? Was there any difference between them?

They play in Q4 because Sanchez would not ever play something else.

If Sanchez wins, Faye has the right for a rematch in QL. Sanchez can chose to not play the rematch in QL but then Faye does not need to pay him the 200$. Or he can take him on in QL, either winning another 200$ or losing his already won 200$.

It has been almost a decade since Showdown 2 released. A lot has gone on between then and now. Leaving the game shortly after 2012 and life taking me random ass directions. Jesus christ I'm in my 30s now.
A few months ago I had a little urge to hop on with a friend of mine to run some duels like the old days. I then opened up Vegas, dusted off my old unused demos, and I began to feel creative again. Editing and recording brought back a lot of new ideas and joy. I missed this game. Browsing ESR and the discord servers, I see a good bit of you are still active and going strong. Sappy shit aside, missed this community and I've been dying to jump back into a large project after I finish the fragmovie I'm currently working on just to get the dust off. While I'm working on that, I want to open up a demo call for Showdown 3! I want to make this one special.

I want the best demos you guys can throw at me.
Rocket juggles, LG suspends, flick rails, quad runs, CTF flag caps. You know the drill.

A few months ago a disgruntled Naughty Dog (the gaming house that produced the first the last of us) employee apparently leaked the last of us 2 plot, spoiling it.

What also came out was that there's been a massive shift in internal leadership in the team and in the narrative. Apparently they've pushed to have all the female characters made more masculine and androginous, the protagonist has been retroactively turned into a lesbian, most of the game revolves around her lesbian relationship, etc, etc.

I decided to check it out since most streamers are trying it right now, and damn. They really jumped the shark on this one.

This is scene where two characters have anal sex. One of them is apparently transgender.

Some shops are refusing to take back games from people creeped out.

What's even weirder is the scores the game got.

A massive collection of praise and 10s from critics, as opposed to a general disappointment from the actual playing public that didn't take the character butchering too well, along with finding the game generally boring and bleak. It's obvious that even if the critics haven't been paid, they know which tune is better to sing if you want to still have a career.

I never cared too much about the first one, it always felt like an overrated game to me, good but not so excellent.

But this sequel has been completely gutted in the name of pushing some narrative and virtue signaling harder than everyone else. Is it worth it? It feels that lately so many movie franchises has suffered the same fate. Terminator, Ghostbusters, Star Wars... they're the proof that trying to synthetically insert a message into a story doesn't really work.

minqlx on Server without root acces (No comments)

Hi there,

we recently set up a public pm1 CA server, that we rented from the german provider g-portal. I would love to have the minqlx scripts running on the server, but as far as I could find out until now, the only way to install it requires root acces on the server's OS. However, it seems I can't connect via SSH / Telnet to the server. I have acces to the QL root folder to upload content, manipulate cfgs, etc., via FTP plus I have an rcon console to speak with the QL server, but that's it.

Well, I guess the answer is no, but nevertheless: Is there any chance to get the minqlx scripts running with only FTP and rcon acces to the server (provided of course, that python is installed on it)?

I'm kicking myself for not being smart enough to create a web scraper to save profile data back when it was around.

I remember using the old Icemat v2 but it always felt a bit small, not to mention my skin type/hand sweat never fully suited. The surface was nice but I always wanted to see if it would be more ideal if it was a bit more 'grainy'. It was also too thick for me (probably because of the rubber feet) and wasn't comfortable for long hours.

I moved away from hard mousepads years ago, but I saw this on OCN and I am curious. It's thinner and bigger than all other alternatives I've seen.

after some ages I have decided to start some gaming again.

I still have my old QL and W:ET configs. Interestingly I have different sensitivities noted in my configs which I believe are related to 400 and 800 DPI:

Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory:
sensitivity 2.58 // = 1,45
cg_fov 90
Resolution: 1920x1080

Quakelive:
sensitivity "4.5"
cg_fov "103"
Resolution: 1920x1080

So I believe that I played with either 400 or 800 DPI back then (Deathadder / G400).

Does the chosen DPI have and positive or negative effect?
E.g. negative accel?
Also it seems like with todays mouse sensors I am not required to stick with the default / native DPI anymore?
