From the author, tool_: Simple Quake Live fragmovie starring: loveless, mau5, tool, and a lot of ctf9 frags. All of the players, former members of the now dead clan velox#. "Cake" started as a frag vid for promoting the clan. After the clan's collapse, I decided to take another, more flashy route with it, and try out using AfterEffects as well as changing the soundtrack to something a little more "frag movie-esque" in comparison to a promotional video. Having these demos of somewhat decent content, I decided I'd try out AfterEffects for the first time, and this is the result. Finally, a big thank you to mau5_ (a.k.a. #rush.) for rendering and uploading this for me, as my computer is a steaming pile of crap.

KOS released a new defrag/trickjump movie with CTF-speedcaptures scenes. As the name states, it's a promo video for the SpeedCapture site and he wrote "it would have been a shame not to try to present it in some more dynamic way, making it some sort of hybrid between a full feature tricking video and a trailer/ad."

The movie features both strafe runs (mode 1) and weapon runs (mode 2) in CPM and VQ3. All the runs are taken from speedcapture.com and some were done last minute for the movie to make some maps shine even more.

CONTENT:
The idea for this project came up somewhen last year and started as a stylized/experimental B/W movie, but after a longer break due to lack of time I continued working on it from April on and decided not to use BW any more.

Obviously there were hundreds of maps to choose from and the main goal for our jury was to pick the most played and known 'classic' ones, which fraggers should be familiar with.
Needless to say the runs on these maps have been brought to perfection over the years.

CONCEPT:
The main goal was to keep the movie playful and constantly dynamic with a lot of stuff happening either content or editing wise, without breaking the content apart.

TECHNICAL INFO:
This one ended up being an extremely time consuming project, simply because I chose to build up a small CG pipeline around it and suddenly you got tons of shots and plates to render out and comp together.
The entire working process took maybe a bit more than 200 hours, with about the same on render times.
Overall the principle was to enchance/improve instead of replace.

I could jibber a wall of text over you but the main changes worth to be mentioned are:

- remodeled/retextured 3d weapons, with raytraced reflections/refractions moving based on mo-cap data
- retextured objects/models for close ups (1k-12k texture data per object)
- fixed clipping bugs on explosions and repainted them
- motion blur based on self built velocity passes
- multi plate composite for the entire movie

P.S.: This shall be my last defrag/trickjump related movie. There will be some other Q3 vid, but that's an other story.

Finally, I've finished my 1st Q-Live movie. I spend a lot of time on it and I hope you will enjoy my work. It contains frags of pro player, frags of docserg (guy who have send me some demos with cool airrockets), and my own. All demos are from ESReality. Also, I do realize that I'm not the best player or moviemaker here :D

And what a legendary clan it would be…

Founded by Gopher and toxic, later enforced with Reptile, Desp, many other great players and also no other than the almighty Fox!

Hi all,
I didn't visit this site for many years ; I've just registered again, with the same username, to give you a link to a home made fragmovie. Music is from my prog-metal band (I did everything minus the vocals and the intro keyboard : all the instruments, the recording, mix and mastering), frags are from myself too. Don't expect special effects or whatever, I have zero movie editing skillz - and here I'm trying to promote my music, not my quake skillz ;)
with youtube compression the picture is quite blurry, I'll try to upload a much better version somewhere.

for metal and quake fans from all around the world :)

Italy Rickmage! quakelive Fragmovie #1 (Winter/Spring 2010). This is my first fragmovie attempt. It features some of my frags from various online duels, clanbase cups, ENC and QQC nations cup during the begin of this year 2010.
I tried to keep it simple and smooth as possible by focusing more on action than on lot of graphics effects.
The lenght is 10 min for a total file size of 220mb. Resolution is 1280x720.

Comments and advice for the future are welcomes!

This is what i hate about QL, you join a server and find an opponent that's supposed to be skillmatched to you, and after 40-45 sec gaming the fucktard ragequits because he played like a moron..

Are there no decent gamers out there anymore? :(

Netherlands Musashiii has made a new Quake Live fragmovie called: Cypher at the Intel Extreme Masters.
After following Cypher in his progaming career. And after some insane shots i saw on the ESLtv stream i decided to make a little Movie about his performance in the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM)
