This works both ways though. For the time being their product is the best, but as soon as a different arena shooter surpasses QL in popularity (the new UT has a chance) I'm abandoning the title.

Therefore if you say that play Q3 that you bought from 1999 and still have the same or better experience as in QL, you're completely wrong, because there are no players in Q3 and you will just run around empty map.
It was clearly noted that the majority of these features are slated for an update not targeted until this summer or fall. The Announcer VO options however will be coming this month.

What exactly is the part in your cartoon that is supposed to be funny? What is the part in the other cartoon that is supposed to be funny? In the latter it is not the word rape that i can tell you. So if we replace rape with beat the joke is completely harmless, while your cartoon is still displaying child abuse/rape.
However in the cartoon the rape is referring to in-game action i.e beating someone very badly.

I just hope people here realize that p4r4, yakumo and flashsoul to name a few all have a stake in the future of quake live and take their comments with a grain of salt because their only role in this thread is to try to disprove the perceived failure of the game and of any future updates.
Those invites came from the same kinds of people who are praising ql now and who in 2008 were bashing q3.
I’m sick of shitty developers that have no idea what they’re doing making a mockery of good game design. It’s unfortunate that a huge chunk of the greatest games ever made were done in a relatively small time frame (circa 1998-2001). The last several years have been entirely mediocre, as the gaming industry does its best to imitate Hollywood and the music industry in pandering to the shallowest demographics possible.

I, however, vote with my wallet, and, as someone who has been gaming as a hobby for many years, do not support developers whom I think are harming the industry with shoddy development practices. As an extension of that, I encourage, one way or another, others to not waste time or money implicitly or explicitly supporting developers of bad products.

This includes whoever thought that it was a good idea to have nothing more than two non-coders (or can they actually do things?) maintaining a game lacking important features for such a title to be successful. Sync & sponge may even do a good job considering the situation they ended up being in, but this situation should never arise in the first place. The actual fault for the perceived fail of ql is probably to be found in id’s corporate structures, rather than in these two individual cogs in the machine. But people give them shit because their names are the only thing they know. That the ql team only now "got the opportunity" is a huge part in why people are mad. These reviews sound like they came straight out of Dilbert, but I’d be not at all surprised if they were accurate, because this product and the way it’s "progressing" really look like it’s made in such an environment.

this being related to game updates is a myth. Quake Live servers don't have management access on Internet backbone routers, and those are the only ones which could influence jitter in the way we have been recording it with WinMTR.
The fact that I can sometimes lower my ping (by ~12ms!) if I find the 'good' (and random) net port followed by a net_restart also doesn't make any sense and has absolutely nothing to do with my ISP.
That also means that if you felt like 126 was "felt more stable" than 125, it's only placebo.which was an error and I corrected it in the following posts.
