madcatz brawlstick or madcatz street fighter 4 se

quite well built cheap stick and you can swap the parts out very easily if you want better stick or buttons later on, i've owned both and swapped out the parts for seimitsu/sanwa both times.

do you advise to buy a used one over the internet? from what i understand the high quality sticks are nearly undestroyable.

the sticks you mentioned are smaller as the big ones, is it possible to lay these on the upper leg or is it better to lay these on the desk. *lol*

i only want to play arcade mame with a bit original arcade feeling, and not newer fighting games.

I have the Madcatz TE2 fightstick, because the FGC told me that it's the one to go with. It is indeed extremely sturdy. I bet this stick can take hits from a mallet, not sure about a regular hammer tho (don't trust me on this, hitting your hardware with mallets is not really a good idea ;) ).

I use the PS3 edition because it had crazy sale when I wanted to get a stick (they are costy, yet really worth it for those who really enjoys fighting games). I have heard that the PS3 version only work on some chipsets and last time I checked this was just a theory within the FGC. I am fortunate enough for it to work on my PC! I would assume that the 360 stick acts just like a wired 360 controller and therefore works on all windows machines. Never really heard about a 360 stick that didn't work on a windows machine.

If I would buy a stick today though, I would go with the Xbox360 TE2 fightstick because they use 360s for tournaments. I can't participate in Swedish championships for SF because I have a PS3 stick...

This gen street fighter is still alive and will be, heck Ultra gets released soon.

It's an "old" model (as in 360/PS3 gen). I looked at madcatz site myself just now and I couldn't find it! Maybe it's already discontinued? (would be a sick + bold move from them) I got mine summer 2013. This is my first stick.

There are some amazing "3rd"-party stick makers that does fantastic sticks, can't remember any names atm, but they are generally a bit more expensive (and often comes pre-modded for use on both Xbox and PS). You don't have to go madcatz, it's just what I did and I'm very happy.

360 works like a standard controller and is completely plug and play on windows and linux machines.
A tip for you is too look into a board switch so you can switch between 360 and ps3/ps4 boards.
This will take a little bit of tinkering by yourself but it is worth it and you can avoid buying a completely new stick.

Hori real arcade pro.

I have the RAP v3 SA Kai version (ps3 version, works flawlessly on pc). It was medium priced (120€). I got the hori fight stick mini before, cause cheap, but you really want quality buttons (sanwa, seimitsu..).
If it's only for mame, maybe go for an xarcade, you'll get a two player stick for the money a good fight stick will cost you.

Madcatz. Hori, Qanba/eightarc are all good, razer stick is great overall, has a bit of bend in the top panel but that doesn't really affect anything.

At the moment in the UK, I've got a Madcatz fightstick pro and a razer atrox, both are great, fighstick pro is surprisingly sturdy even though it's their cheap model, but it has full sanwa parts so this would be my recommendation.
razer atrox is probably the best stick I've used overall, it's nice and heavy, rubber base grips great, has load of space for your hands, easy to modify and fix, wire diagram is shown inside the case, my only gripe is that at the bottom centre of the top panel(where it has the lest support) it bends a bit.

In Kuwait I used Hori RAPv3 SA sticks, they're built like bricks feel similar to the fightstick pro, only issue I had was that sweat strips the paint off of the top panel sticker, the paint becomes rough and eventually is scratched off by your hand movements. but that doesn't really matter.

The PCBs in each stick were great as well.

I initially picked up the Wii TvC stick + Mayflash USB converter for a total of about $40 to have a cheap stick to beat up and learn on, then got one of the SFxT madcatz ones off e-bay for $70. You can get a pretty good deal on the sticks from second-hand resellers and waiting for the coupon codes they offer during majors.

As others have said, the only real requisite is you have full sanwa/seimitsu parts. Beyond that the only other customizations are whether you want a ball top or bat style stick and either an 8-gate or 6-gate stick, and the ergonomics of the stick itself.

Either way you can't go wrong with any of the sticks that retail past $100 or so, and you can get them for cheaper if you eye for good deals.

ok thats good to hear, and is what i also read. dont go cheap on sticks in this genre OR customize something.

about the price. well europe isnt cheap. europe does dollar=euro, plus import thing and duty & taxes. not important for you ofc.

Forget amazon for fight sticks. Prices there are just ridiculous. Check some price comparison site like idealo to find smaller shops if you don't want to use ebay :)

I got the mad catz TE and its made up of Sanwa parts that they use in the actual arcade machines, so I doubt its possible to buy anything better as you're basically buying a chunk of the arcade machine that the game is played on across 1000's of arcades.

They are not cheap, but its something that will last you a life time and work across all games, its also REALLY sturdy aswell and can take a lot of rage abuse, and you can swap out the parts piece by piece and replace them from arcade vendors, you can even change the "gate" in them to suit the feel of the joystick you want.

really depends on the parts, I prefer a seimitsu stick and sanwa buttons. I first used an ls-32, then switched to an ls-56 and did way better with that. also depends on what gaym youre playing, what kind of char etc. seimitsu would be better if you were using guile for example. imo..

my madcatz te stick died after 6 months and i babied the hell out of the it.
the buttons/stick were amazing, but the design of the pcb was bad, which led to a lot of stick deaths. mine was one of the earlier te models(don't buy used ;p). i sold my te replacement and will probably be picking up a hori for my next stick.

You're shooting yourself in the foot if you get an SE or some shit like that. Get a TE, Round 2 if you can, or TE-S, or even a FightStick Pro - all are the business, and they'll do you well. Thing is they've got good resale value, too.
