Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition has just been updated with online multiplayer deathmatch and cooperative modes!
- Duke Match and cooperative modes for up to 8 players online
- Cross-platform play for PC, Mac, and Linux users
- Hundreds of maps available via Steam Workshop

the story was this, General Arcade did ports on steam (Duke, Shadow Warrior Redux). but the netcode in the old multiplayer was strange,

so they promised for both titles to do a multiplayer later.

there is one negative aspect to the duke steam version. it is not fully compatible to all duke commmunity content. from what i understand newer projects dont work with the steam version.

now we have a duke multiplayer comeback? :D

nah, theres no dedicated servers and the MP lacks depth compared to the stellar experience you get in the single player routines... =/

its still worth the $5 or w.e tho :D

ah no dedicated servers. waste of time then. do any of the tricks still work like warping and shit or is this game running on eduke engine or something

i went ahead and got the game since it was 4 bucks, aside from customization options it's not bad. it could really use more robust settings and dedicated servers though. basically a ktx mod style system. Bugs like warps and stuff seem to still be in it. Wish i could do the auto medkit trick by assigning it to the mouse axis like in og duke though.

if anyone wants to 1v1 you can add duke fuckem

do i understand you right. you thought the port could have more settings in the menu, with like the community client eduke in mind.

what about netcode. i mean can it be played with 8 people in deathmatch/coop with people from different countrys? can you see a few servers in a serverbrowser?

on the weekend i will have fun with it.

I don't see why not, if it's the official version of the game on steam. as far as netcode is concerned at the moment you'll have a better experience playing xDuke online I think. yeah you can find games in the browser, the game is p2p still though lol so it's not the best.

ok i played it a bit. its far from perfect but playable, dm/coop. a few times someone warped.

about the port in general. its like shadow warrior redux. modernised (menu pics, fonts, higher resolution/widescreen, settings) and with the help from existent community ports.

i bought shadow warrior redux early and had really fun with it. and i played the two addons afterwards. the built engine is just fun (more movement than classic doom).

Shadow Warrior Redux is fantastic. im currently playing the first addon, Wanton Destruction.

i love the level design and the secrets hunt.

my tip, first twin dragon because its slightly better. the addons have more script events. and what you said, the mapdesign is good. in wanton i loved the map with the plane. in the maingame there was a passage with jump parts and killer bees, i shouted out loud because of endless dying. played it with free mouse. the whole enviroment wants to kill you, and much of the objects are destroyable, but watch out dont walk over fire.

btw i recommend the old tom hall game, rise of triad. i played it recently with ROTT port WinGL. the first three levels were kind of boring but than it got much better. a really strange but fun game.
