I used to play this game, while mostly everyone else from around here was playing Quake 3 since they were released only a few months apart. Their is a lack of quality avis from the game that actually show plays from high level clan matches. So my friend put together this video of some demos I found from 2005. We only had 8 demos to get footage from, so the plays arent the best or the most varied but I still think its a good watch and its good to show TF2 players how fun concing used to be in any REAL Fortress game ;)

sounds like a vq3 > cpma thing to me, gamers arent that good at actualy discussing thing (but i dont have any clue about tfc/tf)

yes its more like the cs > css, or cs > cod type thing. tf2 is just a terrible public play, slow, no grenades, small skill curve game -___-

...It's meant to be low skill curve. It's a game that you can jump in, blow some stuff up, have a good time, and leave. For what it is designed to do, it does very well.

The problem is, games like that shouldn't be played in competitions. If we want to give progaming at least some respect, we shouldn't play quake, starcraft, tf2 and cellphone games on one stage.

there isnt a tournament out there that plays 2 of those games together anyways

besides sc and cellphone games @wcg

you don't supply a reason as to why it is so unworthy.. it's definitely better than most fpses out there being played competitively

Its unworthy because of the low skill curve (whine about teamplay all you want, its in other games too, just not 95% the learning curve). I know its fun and I understand the ones who are doing it, its just that looking at starcraft and what it is now, if it was a low skilled game it would no way it would be like that.

There's WoW and Quake in ESL, there's sc and cellphone games in WCG... this alone would be enough, but there are more examples.

It could be if the the format wasn't so retarded, the leagues are something like 6on6/5on5 which defies the whole purpose of fortress games.

What's the point when it's just basically deathmatch with no or little class variation? Fortress needs bigger teams.

i can't speak for old fortress games, but just because something isn't as it once was, doesn't mean it can't be enjoyable

i'm not very picky though. i'd play 9v9 if it were popular :) 6v6 is fun though.

I used to and occasionally still do tricking (conc maps) in tfc. I also used to play a lot of escape maps with fern - fucking brilliant.

Tf2 is a totally diferent game with the same classes and a feel of the old one, tho i think its brlliant because the balance is near perfect nothing compares to qwtf :D

From my limited knowledge of the original TFs they shouldn't have called it TF2, should've just made it an entirely different game. I like TF2 by the way (even though it's shit) and I really like the characters that go with it and stuff, pretty much all the meet the team shorts have been excellent.
