QUAKE SHALL NOT DIE.

"Imo duel fps has the biggest potential of all games and I hope it will make a return like painkiller. I just love it when two players battle it out on the highest level"that is exactly why ql was chosen in so many lan tourneys, even though the player numbers didn’t support it. Duel is ql's edge. It is what makes this tiny community sit on top of other bigger games.
Enjoy it while it lasts. This is the smartest thing I've seen you say in a long time, and exactly what I wish people would do. I'm so sick of hearing "Quake is dead, Quake is dying, why bother with a game with no future, etc. etc. etc.".
'while it lasts' can be prolonged indefinitelyThat's not up to "us", that's up to zenimax/behtesda and by the sound of things they are ready to pull the plug, but we really don't need an announcement to know that based on the performance we've seen out of id in ql and now in rage. hf
hfThanks, I will!
Definitely not defending Q3, but you are grossly misusing Quake as term tied to the whole series, and Quake as per game title. What? Where did I say this? No Quake game has even sold 1 million copies since Quake 2, which arguably only sold on the merits of QW. Internet play was revolutionized during the time of QW, with the competitive boom you talked about happening around CS.
And since you have stated that quake had 3 more titles since, that would place your statement around q2 times. Or q3 if you are going on ET:QW as title in the series
Also if you are talking about the complete series, like it seems from what you are writing, then I don't really know of any other game that had more impact overall.I wasn't, but that wouldn't be right anyway. You give credit to Q3 for things that can be attributed to CS and QW.
SCBW used to be rather big in Europe - bigger than Quake.
SCBW was very big in Europe for quite a while, just as it was in the USA. It died in both just the same that Quake did. The difference is that Quake has had 3 games since then, and still managed to lose players, whereas SC2 is now the biggest esport game everywhere.
SCBW had less big tournaments in the west, but it was equally a popular game as Quake.
All I said was, the people that started with any of the quake series titles then moved on or switched due to lack of care provided by the game developer are still people that got hooked and into esports and competitive gaming through quake. So, are you now talking about all of Quake, or about Quake 3? If you're saying all of Quake, competitive gaming (outside of Korea) wasn't big until CS - dunno how you can try to attribute it otherwise.
Which since there are still active communities of QW, Q2, Q3(dozen mods), Q4(not so hot), ET:QW (not hot also), QL is a lot of people. All of those games are dead. All of those games combined would still be dead.
Give credit where it's due.Credit as a game has nothing to do with credit for its accomplishments. QW was the only quake to really push the boundary of gaming - 3 dimensions, and internet play. Quake 3 was just Quake 2 without singleplayer, terrible sales, and a delusional community.
Outside of Korea means "the whole world", and since quake had jump start with QW ... competitive gaming was all the blast even before cs :)Competitive gaming didn't get serious until after CS.
Also ... you are again trash talking a whole community, while spending time on this forum which is in many ways tied to that delusional as you call it Quake3 community, which is counterproductive in any way humanly imaginable. This is not a Quake site.
It's due to every single gamer that is passionate about gaming and the game they play. Which is something you will never understand while trolling your way :)You can be passionate about the game, and you can express your love for the game, but don't try to lie about the game to take credit for the accomplishments of other games.
Which is true since you are here, and you are debating and trying to catch anyone and have some sort of argued discussion about how Quake in general with occasional exception of QW sucks, people playing it suck, and anyone thinking about it in any way other than your own suck.

I didn't say that they suck, I said that they did not have the accomplishments that you tried to attribute to them.
Why are you doing this, and why are you still writing here? This is not a Quake site.
I'm not even attacking you. Calling you a troll is merely stating a fact. You call me a troll because you don't want to address the actual issue. You Have no argument, and it is your cop out.
You see, I maybe a fan boy. But I sure as hell deserve a right to either hold this game to the sky, because I pay for it, and I play it, or critique it.You have a right to say whatever you want, just as I have a right to correct you when you lie about history.
But I sure as hell wouldn't be caught with my pants down running around other games forums and telling anyone anything that is relevant to their game.So why are you lying about CS and SC? Why are you trying to take credit for the success of other games? Are you actually ever going to defend your view points, or just fill your posts with ad hominem and straw man attacks?
Since either you or me can't have the real number on this, as there isn't really a survey covering this topic. This is where your post should have ended. The entirety of your position is without any supporting info at all. Competitive gaming got big around 1999, and while you have the obviously successful CS to attribute this to, you have decided to attribute it to the absolute failure that is Q3.
Now that we established that I'm NOT defending Q3, or that I'm NOT attributing popularity of competitive online gaming to it. Will you move along on a forum of any other game. And stop trolling here?I'm not attacking the game, I'm setting the record straight. You are lying about the record, and attempting to troll. Now that you admitted that you have absolutely nothing to back up your statements, what are you still doing here?
Stop attacking this particular game, and stop arguing with people that love and play it?
Numbers stating the popularity of each and every title parallel to that periods Quake title.Which Quake title? Are you arguing for all of Quake, or just Quake 3? I have to assume that you're not talking about all Quakes, since competition didn't start until around 1999.
Including the numbers of offset users that came into other games and originated from any and all Quake titles consecutive, ever. That was your argument, not mine.
( only 3-4 guys working on itwrong. There's only 1 person (sponge) working on quake live with syncerror mapping on the side. What made you think the team was so big :) Ordus only answers emails, he doesn't count.
maps aren't mods Oo?duh, but i said;
and that's just in regard to maps..
that screen shot u posted with sponge and syncerror is pretty telling and exposing dude. wow. WOW. Confirms all my suspicions man. What it really does is, it shows his ability to negate the facts of an issue. The whole problem with CTF is not necessarily with the fact that people stack/slum. It's because they CAN.
