always thought it sucks so dont mind to see the community growing bored of the current aim game after 3 years. im also confident it was mostly implemented to make the gametype more appealing for noobs (just like the 15sec weapon respawn back then), it didnt helped tho so they can revert it now...

Invisibility was used in a few competitive CPM TDM maps such as Powahaus (cpm18 / cpm18r) and Inspired (cpm27). The reason it doesn't work in QL is that QL uses the same old "displacement" shader effect for models which is easy to see on high picmip, which is what many professional players opt to use in their configurations. It worked well in CPM, however, as they used QW-style "eyes" instead, which are hard to spot regardless of picmip, yet reward someone for having a keen eye. It's unlikely that id will ever change this though, so sadly it will never be used in a competitive QL TDM map. Shame, since it could lead to some interesting situations.

Haste would be interesting, but I guess it's not used because people consider it "inconsequential" or whatever, at least compared to the Quad. A hasted LG or PG could be absolutely deadly, however. Increased speed is one thing Haste has that Quad doesn't, but I'm not sure how effective it'd be in TDM since most players are assigned to control particular areas, only moving in between to assist others when assistance is needed.

Regen would be nice for area control / defense, but I suppose it has the same problem as Haste - most would probably see it as being an "inferior" Battle Suit. Of course, Regen restores health you lose while BS doesn't, but the protection the BS offers is arguably more important than health regeneration - plus most good players might shaft you or set up an ambush before you have a chance to recover with Regen.

In the end, Invisibility is stuck with a flaw that makes it practically useless in QL competitive play while Haste and Regen most likely pale in importance / are inconsequential compared to Quad and BS, respectively. It's not necessarily that they're bad for competitive TDM play period, they just appear to be redundant, and overall they work better as CTF power-ups. I don't play TDM though, these are just guesses that stem from basic theories of gameplay. Maybe there are other reasons for Haste and Regen... but I'm highly certain on the Invisibility.

This is an excellent synopsis for competitive TDM. However, pub TDMs are so vastly different, it's like a different game. Literally it should be called Team FFA rather than TDM. In those games where no one times anything, and people just run room to room shooting enemies and picking up any weapon they can find, runes would add a whole new dimension. I'd be down for trying that out; it'd at least be nice to see as an option in pro-spawned servers.
