Completly agree with u about phrantic..Nice, fast paced map..it should be in the pool.

You're lacking it if you think either of them are playable duel maps at more than a "fun" level.

Phrantic was really only popular because Q4 had so few decent maps.

bullshit phrantic was the 2nd most played map in q4 and maybe it will be a good map choice competition wise

I never said it was a bad map, just stated why it was so popular in Q4, because it was never popular in Q3, then again neither was Dismemberment(CPM12?) and look where it went.

Phrantic does have a rather "different" item setup, I admit. No mega, but 1 RA and 2 YA`s. However, a "different" map could work out well. We could use a non-mega duel map, it would be interesting to see. Also, no railgun!

Both the RA and mega in Solid are very risky to obtain, so you have to be real cautious when playing it. If you`re not careful your opponent can come back at you and regain control, which has happened to me more than once when dueling on this map. It feels brutal and could work out as a competitive map. Also, no chaingun!

Are you now reffering to Phrantic? As far as I know there is no Rail Gun anymore they are back to the Q4 setup I think so it should be playable again.

phrantic yes, even in q4 the games got boring after a while when players realised they could just run up/down those 2 long corridors +back / camp bottom ya area (before running)

ql will be the same except with the added annoyance of those barrels to reach lower YA rather than a quicker method

Phrantic is super fun and the map is well scaled. Use it.

It's all because tourney admins are conservative morons. What could be easier than just write a new map pool in tournament rules, but no, they will copy cretinous decisions of quakecon imbecile staff and won't change it even if all players beg for months.
We have many small tourneys now, it is potentially an excellent system to test various maps and private server options to determine the best competitive experience, but no, those shitty admins don't have balls to do the changes. There's no work involved, there's nothing to be afraid of, there's great advantages for the community, but they insist on copying crap and stagnating the whole competitive scene.

people played phrantic in the us for a while. and i think the majority of players, and these are active duelers, disliked it. personally i think the map just doesnt work well with vq3 physics. didnt even like it that much in q4. after playing it in cpm playing it in any other ruleset feels so shitty.

tornado was in the map pool for some 2v2 tournaments we had in america. the map is ok but the 30 second respawn kills the down teams chances to next to nil. it would be a good map with 15 second respawn imo and a great map if it had one extra room with a better item lay out.

testing solid out in duel might be interesting tho. but on the whole theres plenty of other good maps in both 2v2 and 1v1 that should make it to the tourney pool before those 2.

Phrantic actually got worse after the railgun was removed. You don't need any map control in it now.

i never played frantic but wait... map with two ya and one ra? so basiclly when ur in full control u have 200 armour more than ur enemy? fuck yeah, who cares about timing when u got aim....

cpm phrantic is awesome! q4/ql versions are crap.

Gotta agree, an entirely new maps pool would be appreciated. Too bad it will most likely never happen.

Yeah since we've getting 1 duel map a month *if we are lucky* and it's mostly not even a duel map or the map is crap.

I'd love to see new quality maps, but oh well.. even if the map is pretty good (Toxicity) no one actually plays it after a week because a) pro's don't play b) tournament organizers aren't using (testing) it.

I found just last night that even some pros haven't actually noticed that we've had Solid for months at all.

They seemed to kind of like the look of it, so now they know, who knows.

I really don't like solid. It makes me feel like I'm in some kind of really cramped little box. Like how gandalf felt in frodo's "house".

phrantic rules, sadly with slow people in the community deciding maps... Thats one of the things i respect about the qw community, they use hardcore maps with not much place to camp. Only campers prefer t7 vs t9 *cough*gillz*cough* while ignoring a fun map like phrantic.

Not sure what's worse, camping or the teleporter game..

Yeah, because the ten minutes long plasma spam that is t9 is so much fun and for the record, I hate both t7 and t9.
