Are you really changing keyboards to gain a 6 milliseconds faster reaction time with the keyboard?

theres barely a difference when you overclock your mouse, and thats just smoothness

having a ps2 connection + NKRO is actually useful

Thanks for the input i was worried it could have some drawbacks while upgrading my OS.

I might just rearange my desk soon, will make something custom of my own to hold the monitor over the keyboard and mouse. By then i might upgrade to this http://gaming.coolermaster.com/en/products/keyboards/rapid-i/ because i would want some soft light under my keys and it has an ARM processor. Not sure what the ARM processor does but it sounds totaly insane.

I don't have knowledge on keyboard but i watched the Filco tenkeless MX red models, they looks extremly simple, they are much more expensive than the CM Storm Quickfire-i and have no backlight. And if the build quality is same as Noppoo... My Noppoo keybaord has keys that feel a bit loosy when i put my finger on it i can feel there is some little space to move the key in all directions. I do not know if this is normal and inherent to Cherry MX switch or if it is bad quality since it is the only mech keyboard i have. I might buy another one to fulfill my curiosity :p

Tho i wonder if the ARM processor is used to process the keystrokes registering or just for the light effect management as stated in the description.

If you have infos on loosy keys i would be glad to hear about it. It feels like it is not the keycap that is loosy but the inside of the switch that allows this movement in all directions. I also feel there is a little bit of friction and might try to use some old engine grease to see what it does. Kinda insane maybe...

ty. a bit expensive. looks very good, i could set it to 500Hz, only downside is it is lightweight. Maybe i can put some weight in it with clay or w/e !

this is the one I owned, its 125/250/500/1000Hz - there is a hardware switch for that on the keyboard

usbview.exe can tell you about the type and requested interval of your keyboard.

To verify the polling rate (and likewise matrix scan rate) I came up with a test. In the Ease of Access Center, turn on the feature to use the keyboard as a mouse. Set keyboard delay to 0 in the keyboard settings. Then use mouserate.exe and actuate 2 numpad keys at the same time with 1 finger. Each numpad key is set to create WM_MOUSEMOVE messages and those are what mouserate.exe looks at.

But you don't have a numpad and I'm not sure the bindings can be remapped.

For future reference, the hidusbf setup can be used to enforce interval specifications for keyboards as well. Just untick the "Mouses Only" setting.

I think keyboard latency is unjustly underappreciated. I would like to know if there are low latency keyboards out there (same principle as click latency in mice applies: debounce implementation, internal scan rate (MCU in mice), polling rate). There are a few optical keyboards out there, probably debounce-less. Would love to get my hands on one.

In general using PS/2 is preferable. While 1kHz polling rate can be viable for keyboards in terms of reducing input delay, having both your mouse and keyboard be polled at 1kHz, possibly on the same host controller as well, will degrade polling precision for either of the devices. Additionally, my keyboard shows sampling rates of ~360Hz over PS/2, which is only ~1.7ms longer than it would take packet transfer over 1kHz USB and then PS/2 input in the system has higher task priority.
