If those shiny areas are wear marks on the pad surface, get a new one.

If it's just dirt: tootbrush + soap + warm water and a lot of scrubbing.

I got a Razer Goliathus Control, have washed it a few times already and it's still in pretty good shape.

Puretrak Talent lasts long for a cloth pad. Or you can buy a QcK +/HEAVY and turn it around 45 degree's each couple of months if you get dissatisfied with it's glide. Overal cloth pads aren't that durable and if that's a major issue for you, you should invest in a glass pad or some sort.

Pretty satisfied with the longevity of Artisan cloth mouse pad. And cleans up rly nice.

Allsop Raindrop GigaPad XL. Pretty much indestructible. Mine lasted alnost 8 years. Not to mention that it's awesome.

Everglide Titan Monster Mat, also very durable stuff. Really nice as well.

I've always sought for longevity in mouse pads and I think the best ones have been mentioned.

In terms of durability-feel-relationship, I think the Artisan Hien comes off top.

Razer Control pad is basically the king of durability, since the surface weave on it is extremely loose. Maintains very little static friction. But exactly that weave gives a very unprecise feel to it.

Puretrak talent is a nice upgrade from the cheap QcK heavy, but the middle layer being so soft that it gives in when you pressure the mouse a little bit, it's an inconsistent one.

Everglide titan is almost like talent but with a slight plasticky feel to it and a more solid middle layer.

The talent and titan both have a problem where if they absorb moisture they become slow as fuck and irritating to use.

If you manage to find an Allsop gigapad like in this http://www.supergamer.cz/images/ALLSOP_XLSTEEL.jpg , it could be great, I've once tried it and it felt impressive. The blue one on the other hand, http://users.kymp.net/feuer/mousepads/allsopxl01_full.jpg , is horrible, stay away from that.

There's always the steelseries experience i-2 when you get frustrated with every single cloth pad eventually wearing down to shit. But then you have to listen to the scratching and change mouse feet once a month.
