IGL launched into the open beta at PAX EAST 2013, which is great! But, while we are working on expanding the open beta website more and more, based on YOUR feedback and needs, we figured we'd keep you entertained and give you something in return for the early sign up!

We present to you the IGL Open Beta Showmatches! Between the 22nd of March and the 10th of April we will be providing you with showmatches featuring the most awesome players and teams we could find!

We'll be starting off with Quake Live at 19:00 CDT, 26 March 2013, featuring two Duel matches. The first will be

Apparition vs

Rey_ and then we will have

Chance vs

Dahang. In between the two matches John Clark, Marketing and Tournaments Director for IGL will be on to give everyone a little more insight on the site and what great things they will be introducing. Commentary for the matches will be done by Charles "easytarget" Machan and Alex "Jehar" Popa.

Expected other showmatch titles: CS:GO, SMITE, DOTA 2, StarCraft II, League of Legends, ShootMania, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Offensive Combat.

Yes in many ways we want to take what was good about CAL like the consistent leagues and that fact that they were tiered to allow growth for all skill levels and that each division had its own identity (like CAL Open or CAL Invite).. and we want to expand on that with Ladders that are Tiered and pruned of inactive teams and our own league system (Premier, Select, Main, Open) with promotion and relegation from season to season. This is all based on player activity per game so in order to have a ladder or League present in games there has to be an appropriate amount of players/teams signed up for the specific game.

ATM we are just taking registrations for players we are in the OPEN Beta stage so we will slowly be adding content as the show matches for each game title is played. If you find something broken please let us know on the site. We want as much feedback on issues or ideas as possible as we move forward publicly.

I just registered. The problem was that I'm using 1366x768 resolution and there's always horizontal scroll bar on IGL website. It was blocking the "next" button and it looked like nothing was there so it made me think I was supposed to register through steam, twitch or whatever account. It's impossible to scroll down because only the background is scrolling. pic

So only after hitting F11 to go fullscreen I was able to register. Pretty confusing IMO

After 5 years, for the first time ever in NAQL... the correct approach & website has been used for competitive Quake. Lets hope it is not too late, cause this feels like a fresh batch of proper soil laid out for our scene. In the years prior we were trying to grow ion infertile soil watered with horse piss... really could've used this in 2008/2009, but I'm glad the day has finally come!

Great job John Clark & other IGL people! I didn't get to hear much of your interview during the cast but from what little I did hear it seems like we have very similar ideologies for competitive gaming and keeping communities healthy. Very refreshing.

I hope you try some non 1v1 stuff also because this web code + format is exactly what TDM / CTF needs to start up again. GL!

Thanks for the support! Were hoping people recognize the structure that were going to offer, especially properly tiered leagues putting people up against equal skill, finally. It wont be primarily ELO based, you will have to win your way up into the higher tiered leagues. Its something that has been wanted for how many years now? We hope it is received well by the QL community, were working hard on it.

Big thanks to Apparition, Rey, Chance and Dahang for playing and big thanks to easytarget, jehar and Hugo for the production. We hope to give Quake a kick in NA and revive it a bit. Look for more to come with IGL!
