I'm trying to jerry rig a midair mode with server settings, this is what I got so far.

Is there a way to disable receiving damage while on the ground?

@sync make a proper midair gametype.

deadlift

You can disable the splashdamage(wont change the knockback), that way you need to face rocket him and that occurs in 90 % of the cases mid air. And put on knockback 1.5 thats about the perfect amount.

Thats what I did, I posted all the settings I use in OP. Taking damage from direct rockets while on the ground kind of ruins it though.

changing gravity sucks, and I posted the settings im using already.

g_knockback_rl "1.60"
g_knockback_z "1000"
g_splashdamage_rl "0"
g_splashdamage_gl "0"
g_startingWeapons "185"
g_infiniteAmmo "1"

pmove_weaponraisetime "10"

I just need to disable damage on the ground.

while working with qrealka on spiterbot we got air rocket mode only. I made maps for it... was fun for like a whole day

maybe have fast switch between a BFG with RL settings but no damage and a RL with no knockback with damage, but that's kind of silly.

even if they added the setting, the mode doesn't work without an endif map

(Rocket-only instagib is the key: splash deals 0 damage but the same knockback, mid-airs end with a kill usually.)

I don't like FlashSoul's gravity/speed tricks or your added knockback. In testing of stronger knockback I had a feeling I'm not getting proper practice for actual Quake.
