anyone know if the sata III controllers on motherboards are backwards compatible with 3gbs and 600

new boards have no ata, and are only sata III 6/gbs, if you plug a sata i or II drive in the sata III plug will it work

aload of new drives is a whole lotta buy and mundate stuff to update ontop of the board

all thats on google etc is faster sata hardware into a slower sata is compatible, nothing about slower hardware into faster sata slots

if a man buys a amd 990 board that only has sata iii 6gbs slots, you can plug in sata i/ii and they will work

the board specs would say all speeds if they did

i have all teh misc bits i need for a new box, play with the 760g or the 990 and all new drives, or just either board and its all good in a month or 2, get the board last
