The first Unreal is fine as it is.

I agree, it would be nice; but i also think they shouldn't add more complex dynamics like they did in the half life remake.... these games have been successful for some reasons.

Unreal looks amazing with such clear simple graphics. It's the only single player game I don't mind replaying over and over. Even return to Napali was awesome. Anything with these new graphic engines will make the game totally shit with tons of lens flare, blur, fog, and things that take you out of the game that can't be turned off. Not to mention the mechanics will be complete dog shit like you are wearing boots made of iron or physics of pinoccio.

Look what happened to Painkiller. Every year they keep ruining it more and more. First it was new fan base textures, then it was new engine, and finally we have a complete remake of the exact same game....I mean come on WTF?!?!?!

I agree if it were remade with the Unreal 3 engine, but honestly I would like to see it with cryengine 3, not that it'll happen, but it'd be perfect imo, that waterfall at the start would look amazing.

By the way if anyone want to play thoose old Unreal titles here is all what you need to enjoy it on modern computers with high res textures, multicore cpu and new opengl renderer :

Agreed Unreal 1 engine is way better then other Unreal engines, everything is so clean. You definitly should give a go at the links i posted. It doesn't add any fancy bloom or DoF effects, it's realy respectful of the original textures as far as i know doesn't add any effects at all. It just makes the renderer working better with later graphics cards and allow some neat stuff like anisotropic filtering 16x which is simply a higher quality of texture filtering and other cool stuff. Also fixes the game multicore incompatibility and fix the speed. All what is missing realy is a new HUD since the original one is barely visible if you play with a high resolution monitor.

There is also on another website a fix for Deus Ex 1renderer (Unreal 1 engine) if anyone is interrested.

The first unreal game was absolutely ENORMOUS!

If they remade the whole game using a modern engine and graphics, it would probably be 120GB in size.
