After hearing Carmack talk about it, especially since its a business failure, it seems like its a legacy thing to keep Quake alive in some form or another and SyncError is there to manage what they will allow him to.

If its not a nostalgic nod to their roots, idk why else they would keep something that fails. They have a better chance of more success out of promoting other games at this point. The quake-style FPS obviously isn't where its at, otherwise the situation would be different.

Still, I'd like to see more effort put into it. :\
