They are different colours and I think the middle button is a bit different on the g1

nah, g3 looks nothing like that.

The general shape is the same, but the g3 has extra buttons on its sides and another colour. On the g1 and g3 the small middle-button has something like a "play-button" printed on it and on the mx300 it's a "doublewindow -button" instead. Also the bottom of the g1 & g3 looks different to the bottom of the mx300 (you can't see it here but I've compared the three mice and they have slight differences in mousefeet- and sensor-placement).

i've used an mx300 for over years, i know what it looks like. i've also briefly(very briefly) used a g3. not need for explanation.

Never used a Logitech, an never will use one. Too bulky, too heavy. Razer all the way, or perhaps MS if my ever DA breaks. Does anyone know if the MS Comfort Mouse 6000 is any good???

MS Comfort Mouse 6000 is about as good as any Razer mouse...

Never had problems with my Razer Mice, especially with my DA, works perfect even after falling down from table on the floor for several times.

518 was the most commonly used mouse in CPL WT 2005 \o/

518 is probably the mouse that is used by most gamers (perhaps the IMO/WMO are on pair with it but no other mouse) so that does not surprise me, but it also does not say that the mouse is perfect for everyone and in every game.

Nah it does not. Especially in Quake a lot of Pro-Players played with IMO for a very long time. Also a lot of people used DeathAdder and now use Abysus. You can't build a perfect mouse that will suite everyone, MX518 is a good mouse but it's definitely not the best mouse ever made, since there is nothing like that.

I'm not saying razer mice are the best and you are right most of the pros that use razer are sponsored by them, but still if the mice would be utter shit the would not use them even if razer sponsors them, and a lot of people (even here on esr) that are not sponsored by razer say that they make solid mice. This only proves that there is no perfect mouse out there.

i take care of my mice so my progression is: ball mice/random optical failmouse/mx500/mx510 so far (and mx500 went through both diablos, quake, ut and even wow.. i was impressed how long it worked until the left mouse button finally collapsed)

300, 500, 310, 500, 510, 510, 518, 518, g5, 518, 518 :D

wasn't exactly broken, so i gave a couple to mom, brother, friends :D

hehe, i guess i am pretty lucky with hw too.. hardly anything really fails on me, i have friends that are changing mice/power supply/hdds every year

i liked the mx300 a lot so i think ill hold onto that, never used a 518 but its pretty much the same thing as a 500 just higher dpi right?

well technically speaking, the mx500 got a slightly better score on its engine's performance than the mx518, but i doubt it's even noticeable

dno how that works, it deffo feels better. a big factor in any case is wearing them down. dirt in sensor or whatever else.
