I do part-time laptop repairs as a side contract for a large local business as I have a strange love for configuration and hardware and those temps of yours scare me.

I'm taking apart a toshiba right now actually due to overheating and those temps are not good for you, get a cooler now and consider upgrading internal coolling, this one here looks like the pads have come away from the CPU/GPU which is a common problem and that might be case with you.

If you know someone decent its worth uprating internal cooling.
I'm sure they do a bad job of coolling laptops on purpose, the heat problems are why most of them die or have problems.
And this fuels constant demand for new models and repairs, not that I'm complaining.

I've tried to narrow down the problem - whether it was the cpu that caused the massive heat or the gpu and it seems that it is the gpu that is the issue here.

I've been using a cpu stress test (100% cpu load) for 5 minutes now (I'll keep it running 5 more minutes) and the cpu temp. stays at roughly 72/75. Which should not be too bad, right?

I will do a gpu stress test as well to see what's going on.

I'm interested in buying cooling unit myself, didn't go through any reviews yet tho.

Unlike yours laptop ischju mine doesn't get really that hot from normal gaming, but after watching demos for a while (and doing fast forward all the time) it gets really hot at the bottom.

I can't imagine doing avidemo right now, without any additional cooling.

Okay, dude I bought the "Zalman Cooler ZM-NC3000S" for roughly 40 bucks. I was looking for like 3 hours at least and I always landed back at that one as it suppose to be really good and I am not mistaken (so far). Since the surface is aluminum it is already without the fan doing its deed freakishly cold. My laptop is at 15" widescreen. Therefore make sure your laptop is not too big for the cool pad!

I'm letting QL run in the background for 20min (ctf pickup match and then im gonna post the tempratures) and then I'll wait 5minutes and see how it looks like in idle. Be amazed. I'll be testing it tonight for like 2h or so and see what the max temps are.

Check out the max Temperatures which are around 70+. This should be really okay!

Clear all dust inside and buy some cooling pad with additional fans. That should lower these temperatures.

buy macbook -> high temperatures are normal -> stfu

btw the laptop is not even a year old. :x Are there any good cpu fan controller shoftware shit blah so I can maybe force the cooller to run constantly? I cannot believe that the fans are broken or something. That is just blah not after a few months.

btw in idle temps are: 56 mobo, 45 cpu, 57 gfx card.

I also have an R-series samsung laptop (R720) and mine doesn't have this problem.

I know people with an R522 who ALWAYS have issues with either overheating or malfunctioning monitor.

One of those pads that you put your laptop on with a fan might help a bit, but with the exception of the R720, I don't think the R-series were meant for gaming.

my msi has a lovely button to increase fan speed =D cools it down

had same problems ( mine heated like till 95° )
started to overheat about after 9 months or so , and simple cleaning helped ;]

I have to remove the keyboard to do that though. Apparently, it is really complicated with the R522. I'm scared I'll pwn it. I'm gonna let someone else do it and then blame him.

My GPU has been at 85C for years and has never really malfunctioned. But it's a 6 year old shuttle barebone so I can't really improve my cooling =[

ur temperatures should improve a lot if u remove ur thermal grease and put on heatsink paste instead.
