while it was well made, i found it really awkward to watch something like the beach scene, and the whole love plot jsut went right past me.
not awkward like watching leon the professional.

Herzog rocks. Have seen most of his films and documentaries and some of them with directors commentary which I normally dont do, just because I dont have enough time.

Also recommended is the book "Eroberung des Nutzlosen" about the making of Fitzcarraldo and the diary "Vom Gehen im Eis" which I finished recently. If you have some time and want to dig into a directors work, Herzog is the way to go :>

I can't believe I'm the only one who mentioned The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford... Absolutely brilliant movie imo. The cinematography is mind-blowing, the score is spot on (it should really have won an oscar), the actors all do an amazing job (Casey Affleck really shines in this one, and Brad Pitt is great as well - so is the rest of the cast), and I thought the story was very well written, true character development. It's easily in my top 3 of the best movies of the last ten years.

Be aware that the movie is nothing like 3:10 to Yuma though, it is a very slow (and long) movie with little action. It's all about character development and the relations between the main characters. In my theater a few people walked out, probably because they were expecting a much more action-oriented western...

Favourite movies? Hard to tell, i watch a good movie and shout in my own little world "BBEST MOVIE EVER!" then see another one and ditto.

I guess i like "The Boondock Saints", it has a bit of everything in it.
Comedy, tragedy, action and good entertainment.

"Pearl Harbour" is the best Bay's film, also one of my personal fovurites.

Also every movie where Leslie Nielsen is in, is a good laugh, from

"Dracula: Dead and loving it" and "Naked gun(s)" to "Police academy".

The Trailer for Scott Pilgrim looked awkward, also i haven't watched Inception yet. So i'll take your word for it that they are watchable. Wouldn't be too dissapointed if i was trolled, it is ESR afterall.

The fall was good, the fountain was very meh.

As much talent as Aronofsky has he still gets himself lost in pointless overcomplicated drivel from time to time. I'd say the fountain is one of those times.

It's hard to imagine someone who made a complex and deep movie like requiem for a dream appear imminently watchable for even a borderline retard also made the fountain.

I'm hoping for him to redeem himself with black swan but judging from reviews it does not appear likely.

its a very personal movie. i tend to like such things, where the director puts heart and soul into something. where it presents a near religious outlook and simply doesn't care about representing things objectively to an audience.

if one has thought a lot, even a whole life, about something, and try to get everything out in one instance, it always comes out somewhat analogous to the way the fountain plays out; depersonalizng metaphors or dialogue just doesn't seem acceptible to the author when the idea has to match something so close to him

anyway. this is my guess. i have no idea if it is a personal movie. can probably check interviews or something to find out.

Haha no. It's a studio in India called Sanraa. My job title is Creative Supervisor which I'd say is a rather flexible role. When there's a project at hand (an ad, tv show, film etc) I might be the writer/director. When one project is completed, I simply daydream for the next few weeks and churn out ideas for more stories and the best ones are chosen.

Sounds like a good job that. I'd love to do something within video editing. Love doing it as a hobby, earning money doing it would be fantastic.

I don't know all the required programs, mind.

Well tbh editing Quake movies on Vegas was what got me interested in this whole thing in the first place. I was hooked so I bought myself a small video camera and tried making a few short films (of course, they suck but building a portfolio helped me get into a great film making program in Canada.)

Earlier this year, I was offered my current job by this studio. I was really apprehensive at first because I had no prior experience with animation but I quickly learned a lot from my colleague who is really good.

What I found was that knowing the programs isn't as important as it's sometimes made to be. With the amount of tutorials available online, you can learn them quickly. It's way more important to develop a keen aesthetic sense and this is the fun part : You do it by simply observing pretty much every single thing around you :D

edit: No you probably wouldn't have seen anything we've done but we are currently working on something relatively big and if all goes well, you might catch it sometime next year :)

I was actually thinking of saving up some money and buy a video camera, but I also need a new computer that can handle editing, the one i have now is not really up to task, can't work on big projects as my ram can't handle it!

Inception still to new to judge. I liked it, but was not overly amazed.

Nolan is a very good director yes.

My biggest gripe with Inception was that I couldn't feel anything for any of the characters.

I didn't really care about Dom wanting to see his kids and it seemed like the others were simply tagging along on a 5 level deep ride. Compare this to TDK where I could really connect with all 3 characters.

The last Resident Evil movie was one of the worse movies in all history. Even as a hardcore fan, I laughed during the film because of its crappyness. So disappointing, and this was even the first movie I watched in 3D.
