Also I'd like more maps coming qw, q2 and even q4 or doom, but it seems not possible because they are not suitable for ql's gameplay (qw, for example dm6), not classic or good enough (most q2 and q4 maps. Maybe the chastity belt q2 version but its not from the listed mappers, and some q4 map for eyecandy like the one played only by shadowmaster555), etc; and it's obvious id will add a doom-themed map.

did you see the title of this thread? It is about q3 maps or remarkable remakes from others that are available for q3. Those q4 maps do not have a q3 version, besides monsoon which is not suitable for quake live's at all gameplay (certainly a rocket spam fest due to its faster speed) and weapon balance (would not be the same monsoon you remember).

I could say I'd really like .....rankin from ut2004 (random selection) but there's no way it could be in the game. Also I could say.....placebo from q4, but it would be unrealistic since I think you know how difficult it was to get even ztn to quake live when there was a huge lack of duel maps.

Those q4 maps are good for q4's gameplay but are not classics since the game wasn't, therefore it's not worth the huge effort to bring them to ql which would be ztn all over again (reach the author, get the permissions, etc. That's why this thread is mostly about maps from already reached authors like OSP) + the annoyance of doing a remake for the game (which still doesn't happen with any map, even the most probably most classic map from id: the edge).

On the other hand there should be at least 1 map from q4 because it's a quake game nonetheless, even with all those problems. Should it be placebo, which is not suitable for quake live, having to reach the author and also we have enough duel maps by now; or should it be a map that will actually get played and in which id has no legal and practical problems?

Those maps are good for q4 but they won't be for ql, especially monsoon ("good"). Also they are not classic enough to be worth of all the annoyance, for the said reasons ("classic")

monsoon and galang would be fun I guess. a phrantic without a rail and a better jump from the yellow up would do it for me.

deck16 only for CA, i dont see it working for anyhthing else. plus it would have to get scaled properly into quake to avoid it beeing a railfest or something :>

it has not a proper scale in the boxes area so it gets in the way of the best feature of the map: jumping.
On that aspect ospdm1 is miles better, and actually that's the primary reason why it's a better map than any conversion at any game I've ever seen.

also ospdm1 is not only a conversion but improves the map as well, both in looks (q3 style) and balance (the worst aspect of q2dm1)

Its better imo, i can see how maybe it doesnt work in vq3 but in cq3 and cpm its fine cos u get the double jumps, the jumppads on ospdm1 is :/ and the rails to easy to get

only if quake live gets mandatory cpm gameplay, if not there's no way nodm10 would be better for quake live.

omg you still want OLD maps put into ql? why not just play q2/3/4? I would suggest ID to add NEW maps but I dont care anymore.

You can have both. I'd rather have the definite Quake version with a few less new maps tbh.

I also see quake live like this: the last great quake game (and most probably last popular fast paced fps) which should have content from all of them (just like q3 which borrows content and concepts from q1 and q2 btw)

personally I think it should not go to the point of getting all the most played q3 maps since that has 2 problems: playing the same maps again for 10 more years, and also those dis encourage new players or that do not come from q3 because they'll get raped on those maps.
