Nah it wouldn't. Trust me. Your pc would just not turn on. Put standoffs/spacers on and its all fine.

So yeah his problem is not caused by mobo touching the case. Maybe he has a dodgy cheap PSU?

I have 1000 watt Zalman and have the same prob. Although in my case current is not strong, and can be felt only when touched to metal parts of case with wet hands. So looks like he has lack of ground problem.

Looks like your AC power lines do not have connection to ground.

All computers I had to date, including my current one, worked in such conditions for years without any harm.

Mine as well in a previous apartment. Though it did shock me whenever I touched the metal parts of it :P

I've experienced it from various sources, like inserting the net cable into the netcard, when it's already in the router. Bzzzzz
The VGA cable from my CRT screen also gave me electric shocks, if I tried to attach it to the graphic card, when the monitor was powered on. And finally my speakers has also shocked me when I've plugged the cable in the audio card.

I think the screen was the worst culprit. After I got a HD4830 which only has DVI, the VGA converter has solved the problem.

once when i switched my pc on, black smoke came out of it. i shit my pants, but after some moments it became clear a cheap ass 12/7V converter cable literally went up in smoke. in my mind, i already saw the whole computer on fire.

Well, I've got two computers wasted by Thor..forgot to unplug them when when we had thunderstorms :(
The first pc was completely toast and wouldn't start, and the other one turned on for 1 seconds, and then it made a huge cracking noise and it started to burn/smoke. Don't know if it "beats" it, but I'd rather that I had lost my speakers than the entire computer ;)

My old 19" CRT caught fire. The apartment stunk for weeks.

On a unrelated note, when I put my cellphone near my mouse(mx310) it goes nuts and starts clicking. None of my previous phones did this. It is some walkman ericsson.

Any ideas why this phone would do it or what causes it?

My W810i does the same to the Logitech G1..but then again, it also affects the speakers and the monitor, so I don't exactly blame Logitech.

yeah it is no doubt the phone. How it can interfere with the mouse on such a level that it actually makes the mouse click(yes yes not physically), boggles my mind.

i have the exact same problem with thermaltake matrix + chieftec PSU, and its not a minor shock, its always pretty strong. i've found no way to fix it so i just stay away from the case :D
