Yeah, SF community is pretty awesome, I've always considered playing it competitively, just because everything works pretty well.

But, I might wait until SF4, when that comes out I'll get a 360.

SF4 will come to PC as well

PC = best platform for fighting games imho (as for everything)
GGPO & 2DF matchmaking servers are lightyears ahead compared to XBOX Live in terms of netcode and various functionalities (like online replay database, spectating, statistics) + they're free and supported by the community

not to mention you can plug any controller in the PC or simply play with keyboard (which some people are surprisingly good with).

Hmmm, you do make a good point. I wanted to get a 360 with SF 4 since I thought the online would be decent, would give me an excuse to get a decent HDTV, and I rather play a fighting game on a couch then at a PC.

Maybe I'll play SF4 hooked up to my laptop outputting to a TV. I completely forgot that the Xbox Live netcode would be shit. =D

If they manage to code a good netcode (which they'll probably do) it'll be the same on every platform. There are many reasons to like the PC version over the others, but that's not one of them.

Well if the netcode will be the same across all platforms including PC, then I'll get the 360.

Well, I understand where you're coming from, and you're right, I shouldn't be writing shit like this here, or commenting towards CERTAIN people like the way I do.

One thing that always bothered me was when I was younger, I'd watch Quake games on streaming video, like CPL and early WSVG. I'd see all these top players competing, but what I wouldn't see out of them was any contribution or comments online on websites like ESR. That always bothered me, and it still does. I'd like to know top players opinions on certain situations, but they don't contribute or talk to the community. Most top players profiles like tox, cooller, cypher, etc, have zero posts here, but others like DKT and Fox have a lot. Fox manages to posts some of his opinions and thoughts on here, without getting thousands of fanboys arguing with him, which I thought was surprising.

So, I'll just keep my contribution positive =D

I always thought that maybe when I do get better, and reach their tier, and compete more, that I would still contribute to communities like this one.

You have a point about the elite being what they are...

however you will find similarities in any high rated competition of any type. The best of the best just don't hang with the rest. It may sound ultra cliched teen movie like, but its the truth.

In official sports, its actually a necessity. The professionals are kept in a well controlled environment and the general public have limited access to such environment.

I wouldn't go as far as to say that fact Fox being accessible accounts for him finishing 2nd more often than 1st, but it could in some strange and twisted way. ( he and Trito actually contribute in a very necessary way at the moment anyways )

As far as DKT taking active part in the community, it's called selling a product. I have zero respect for this guy because the moment you start beating him in a game, you get to see his true face and it's definitely not the happy cool guy anymore :)
