Hi Disrepute, could you first please introduce yourself and tell us about your Quake background.
United Kingdom Disrepute: We (iMmune) first started quake back in 2004, playing in the Jolt TDM and CTF leagues Q3 OSP. The team back then consisted of the same members as today me, vor, adr, ini with a change of additional players pretty much every season. We started at the bottom (div 6) and over the years eventually worked our way up to premier division by the end of Q3 competing in Clanbase and kuh3liga too. We actually spent a lot of time in CTF even though most of us find it tedious just because it was more active, but we never had the right mentality for CTF as all we would want to do was kill the opposition over and over and top the accuracy stats rather then grab caps.

Quake 3 was really our first shooter experience as we all came from a game called Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast, where the combat is all about using lightsabers. An instagib mod was made for that and we formed a team called eXpression which gave us a little bit of insight into the way quake plays. We all had decent aim so just decided to enter some quake leagues and here we are still.

On ESR you mentioned that "we will probably be a completely different line-up this season“, so tell us, what lineup will you play with in the upcoming EMS and EC and what kind of role each player has in your play?

We always tried to play with pretty rigid tactics in iM, just simply because its more fun then just running around in FFA mode. The lineup last season was me, vor, sc00t and abso and it was that 4 that pretty much played every match. At the end of the season abso got asked by front to play for them this season and he wanted the opportunity to play with players like cooller and av3k which is fair enough. Then sc00t had also said he didn't want to play quake so actively anymore as he was in the finals of TDM with us and Netherlands, finals of CTF with k1ck and the finals of duel himself. He was putting in a lot of time and wanted to cut some out. So that left me and vor and we basically didn't get any practice in at all since the end of last season. Vor doesn't want to play to lose so that leaves only me from last seasons lineup.

To replace players like those 3 is kinda impossible. Sc00t and abso are two top level all round players in TDM, CTF and Duel and abso and vor just have insane levels of aim. Our setup last season was basically sc00t stack up and take powerups, I hold areas and hide, vor hold other areas and abso go pickup style and wander about owning.

This season we have some strong players but with zero practice time and a tough group. Me, adr, nvc, deus and unity should be the lineup for the Eurocup, with me and adr hiding, deus and unity running about owning and nvc throwing away maps with stupid moves.

Last EMS season you finished 3rd, only losing to 4K and fnatic in the Playoffs. Were you satisfied with that result?

We played a decent match vs 4K I think in EMS (bad one in Clanbase) but in reality they were just better then us. If we had got it to a fifth map then who knows. I think that was the match vor got kicked mid round by xou for swearing or something before the round had actually started, and nether time we played with our strongest lineup. So I think we could have done better then we did but 4K were stronger still anyway.

The fnatic match was right after the UK just lost to the Netherlands in the ENC so me and vor had zero motivation to play and were still confused as to how nvc managed to die so many times in the last min. Watch the vod for DM7 and just see some of the stupid things he does. We knew if we had won that we would beat Russia and be in the LAN final so the fnatic match wasn't really in our mind. Anyway fnatic were too strong for us when you play a sloppy open style and we should have played really defensive.

So in the end we were satisfied with 3rd in EMS and 2nd in Clanbase, it was the best we had ever achieved but of course you always feel you could have done better.

Your QL account shows that you have not played much TDM lately, are you still motivated to play?

Since the new maps came out we have not really practiced them at all. Maybe we have played 10 maps of TDM in total. We as a team always liked new maps and used to pick them back in Q3 (ospdm15rc3, ospdm14, cpm9), but these new ones don't inspire me to want to play hour after hour and on top of that we still have to put up with dm6 and cpm4, both awful TDM maps. Actually my motivation for QL dropped a lot when they originally reduced the hitbox size. It just made it less fun and I hope its something they go back on.

Considering your lack of preperation, what is your goal for the upcoming EMS season?

We have now decided to drop out of EMS due to the fact that deus would be playing for fnatic and we couldn't guarantee on getting 4 for each match. If we didn't then the whole penalty point system might mean we cant enter the next one so we will just sit this one out and instead do some streaming.

The Clanbase Eurocup is not what it used to be anymore, but still attracts a lot of top teams. How important is the Eurocup for you compared to the EMS?

Well in a way the Eurocup was more important to me just on the simple fact that I can say I have played in a Eurocup. ESL have not paid us for the last EMS and we didn't get any coverage on ESL TV so in reality there is no difference between the two cups. Just if anything a more convoluted system of doing things on ESL and more barriers to streaming the games.

The Groups for the ClanBase EuroCup have already been drawn, who do you expect to make it into the Playoffs?

It is hit and miss. Front and metsu will be top 2 then its just if we have a good day we can come 3rd but the likelihood is not.

Lets talk about maps a bit. The big Quake Live Update brought a lot of change to the QL TDM scene with the comeback of some Q3 TDM Classics and the release of 3 new ones.
What do you think about each of the new maps - Dreadful Place, Purgatory and Leviathan?

Dreadful Place seems like a fun map, but it is kinda FFA like. Purgatory I like too but again you don't get teams holding areas that much as its so open everywhere so its just rushing around FFA play again. That style of play is fine and I think the balance of QL kinda amplifies that, but we don't want every map the same style. Leviathan is so simplistic I don't think its a long term choice for a map list. It is also not very fun and is boring to stream.

Do you like the current Mappool (Campgrounds, Deep Inside, Dreadful Place, Grim Dungeons, Intervention, Purgatory, Realm of Steel Rats) or would you like to change it?

I would like every playable map in the pool. If I was to drop any it would be dm6 and cpm4 and I have no idea why they dropped dm20 but kept dm6. Probably bias admins who's own teams are stronger on dm6 then dm20.

The TDM scene seemed to benefit a lot from the update, pickups are happening, lot of teams looking for pcws and a quite a few good teams entering the EMS/EC. Do you think QL TDM has a future?

I dont think it will grow much and generally the start of every season it gets pretty active but by mid season it will be pretty dead again, once teams work out they wont qualify to the next round. Then the end of season you only get a few teams like metsu hardcoring it.

In a recent inerview, astz mentioned that „The UK scene is actually great, very underrated. There is an abundance of talented players and for some reason they seem to be overlooked internationally“ - Would you agree?

If you are talking about duel then no I think the UK is weak. I think as a nation we don't have the work ethic to become the best in duel. In terms of team games, we proved last ENC that the UK is a top team. We came 5/6th but our game with nl was a 1 frag game and they reached the final. In CTF we did pretty decent and there are a load of UK players playing just below the premiership in TDM which I am hoping we can give some UK team experience to soon. But still I don't think the UK is incredibly strong and in reality there are a few nations ahead of us in overall skill levels.

You founded lvl^ together with nvc and by now you are an intergral part of the QL coverage, are you pleased with the development and do you still enjoy casting?

I enjoy casting a lot yes, in fact I just got a new connection and PC so I an stream some stuff myself and so hopefully can cover more team games in the future. Trance is really the driving force behind level up and people like drill, gorillala and chosen give up a lot of their own time to stream stuff. People like cron and d1ablo always helping out. Also issue is always up for casting and never in a bad mood. I think nvc could be a world class shoutcaster if he just cheered up a bit and I will be doing my best not to put him down so much in future broadcasts. Without these guys (and we make no money from this remember) we couldn't watch all this quake and I really just have to thank them all personally for the effort they put in. We know ways we can improve level up and will be working on them in future. We are always open to suggestions and if you have any just leave it in the comments here.

Any last words?
