:E

looking good :D

Just 6 hours after it happened, man im getting slow :(

im really really looking forward to this game, sick and tired of quake now :(

<3

Is that you link? Your quakeworld screenshots/stories rocked.

nah, if you checked my profile you would see that im from sweden, the link your talking about is from norway ;>

Oh, sorry then. I checked it out before replying and saw you were from there and I though "well he's from that region, swiss or sweden or norway or iceland or something like that". My mistake. :P

hehe, np :>

Grrrr. Switzerland is not in that region. :DD

Not even close :P

Switzerland is as close as Iceland to sweden/norway.. :P

But there is many countries between switzerland and norway/sweden :P

thanks god poland's next to usa

Relax, I meant Sweden and Norway as in north of europe. Iceland and Switzerland were put on the list just as a joke meaning I didn't really pay much attention the the original country. I was actually going to list Australia and South Africa too but I felt people would find a way to get offended.

That guy had screenshots aswell?

Recently, yes

http://lame-ever.qhlan.org/

Great one zro, thanks for the effort. Also thanks to Adrian to answering the questions and being an honest guy -- it's great to see interviews without all the publisher's mambojambo.

Nice - great answers, can't wait to see what the MP demo is :D

This looks much more promising than any other pretender to the 'the next big thing' crown that i've seen to date.

nice work

Never heard much about the game, looks like fun,

seems simular in some ways to serious sam, graphics/models wise(but of course better quality models, ect). then again i have only seen a few screenshots:D but still looks impressive.

are you an employee from the studio that develop painkiller zro ?

yes he is, and he will eat your momma !

that' s fine

No.

ok

why

just wondering.
maybe this game will be good, actually it has a nice "teasing machine".
I like the way the develloper speak like a geek in the interview, feel sooo much like us, and i want to buy the game now !

I just don't understand the fuss, we got screenshots yet, a geek programmer, and a LOT of talking (thx to zro?) on this page.
don't get me wrong i hope this game gonna be good.
I just don't like the way it's selling itself(?)

Well, the geek-talk is because Adrian is the lead programmer on the game, as opposed to marketing heads that usually do the interviews for big name sites. I've read somewhere that he's the "John Carmack of Poland" so..

And about the way the game is selling itself.. the game is not selling itself that way, you know, it's the players here that are giving high praise to it. Not that it's a bad thing - it's just that it is a game that looks like it will be good, and is being developed by an unknown developer, without all the hype machine that games by epic or id or valve usually have... I think it's only natural for players to push for the games they like, and more so if they know it won't be a big marketing rocket with immediate high praise/coverage from the big media, as in "the next id software/valve/epic" game...

(That said, sure, every game should be expected with a grain of salt even though it might look spectacular, that's what I'm doing anyways)

well john carmack doesn't speak like a geek
but i was just just being picky, i hope it will be a good game.

well john carmack doesn't speak like a geek

Have you ever read his .plan update?

You mean you can understand his .plan update to tell if he speaks like a geek or not?

I can't, that's why I think it's geek-talk or rocket-scientist-on-crack-talk or something to that effect.

Plan are technicals, you will not see john carmack says "cheating sux monkey balls" or something like this.
It's just a matter of credibility

chii ?

Nice guy this Adrian :)

The game is released just after my birthday so it has to be awesome. Just like me.

rofl thx@zr0 he erased my questiona "do you think painkiller has a future in competitive games?" just as a normal pro-gayming (!) question thx :/
and there were too many people with +o

SoGamed: a few short questions quickly, Larvi asks do you think painkiller has a chance on the market of competitive multiplayer games?

[PCF]Adrian: "do you think painkiller has a chance on the market of competitive multiplayer games?"...
[PCF]Adrian: Yes.
[PCF]Adrian: :)

Removed?

still you changed my question to a rather rude one :/

I didnt touch your question......

you replaced it by another one

i asked yours and a similar one.. he answered both..

ok, never mind i stop now :)

Looks cool :)

great intervieuw some nice questions, although I havent played qw (it was be4 mine time), will the game have strafe jumping, havent found a direct answer.

ie what is TBC? :X

gg;p

Well they've only referred to 'bunny hopping', which is similar to strafe jumping but with more air control and the ability to continue movement round corners. TBC means 'to be confirmed'.

TBC means his answer is to be continued before we asked another question.

Ah yeh, you're quite right. Well Inferno, the acronym TBC usually stands for 'to be confirmed' when it is used by games developers.

=)

ty, games developers sux -_-

"to be continued"

in this case IMO (check first usage of the acronym and the explanation by him :P)

omfg, i am really excited about the game now :D
can't wait on the public test!!! :D

Woohoo, sounds like the MP Game i have waited for since Quake3 got boring!!!

/me wants linux client

i'll be forced to install winblows again to play PK.
and play it i will !

can't wait :D

SUJOY TELL WCG ABOUT THIS GAME!!!

:)

well, nothing will ever be as important for me as q3, but this game will let me be a "painkiller", and if you say this to such a cs-kiddo he will think of the speed and the pro'ness of the game and yeah, he will shit in his pants like blair !

Was a pleasure to do. Lookout for the SG writeup shortly.

I think I'm in love.

PK > *

HL2 pffft, D3 pfft... q4 ha... GIVE ME PK!

"[PCF]Adrian: If I could predict the future, I'd be playing lotto. I don't know if we manage to get 100000 players. I know PK will be fast, and this speed may be too fast for mainstream. We shall see."

so refreshing to see such honesty from a game developer

id or valve would say some marketing bullshit like "fast enuff for the most hardcore player, but at the same time slow enuff for average joe to join a server and own"

this guy seems to really understand what a fps multiplayer game with depth/longevity is all about

im sold already

fk doom3/half life2/quake4

u use the good term "sold"
funny how if someone spam 10 bulletin news about a game, then this game is popular, but who played it yet?

yes, you are bought...

heh yea im cheap

esr user's news posts aint what are interesting me tho(no offence esr)

what this designer guy has to say in this interview and others, he seems to be on exactly my wavelength

as opposed to carmack going on about fancy lighting gfx and such wich i dont give two shits about or valve's amazing AI which is also meaningless in terms of multlplayer, or the ut team and all their boasting about novelty features which sound naff and end up being so

course painkiller might turn out not so good, but at least the designer has the right attitude and vision imo which is very exciting

Well, you're in your right to think that way, but think about this: Painkiller is being developed mainly for the players (and also BY the players, indirectly), but with a very different goal then Doom 3. You've seen Doom3's graphics, I assume. You know that you have never seen that before. If you don't care 'bout it, that's ok, but such thing as "Id or Valve suck, dishonest bla bla..." doesn't really fit here (or anywhere?).

yes but they deserve childish comments like that because they have been so assuming/patronising to their loyal fanbase that made them house hold names in the first place

oh well

we have painkiller now, so no need to pay any attention to them i spoze

what i really try to say is "you don't have painkiller" yet.
hold your horses :>

By reading Adrian's comments and the way the team is dedicated to the game I just hope that this game has the sucess to reach the top.. But on the other hand I haven't seen any movie or DM pics, and as the weapons will be very different from most FPS i'm a bit relutant.. inovation is a good thing, but I don't know if I will like the weapons, and combos before i actually play the game.

There are 2 movies running on their webby.
Both of the solo mode.

I have them ;) but what i'm intrested about is seeing the stuff like skins, brightskins, map styles, etc.. that will be used in MP.

well guys, we already know more about this game than quake 4. So we can say alot more than we could about q4. I really like everthing I am hearing from these guys. It seems like gamers making a awesome game instead of flash talkers telling you mumbojumbo then showing you a screenshot and then not release the game for another 3 years.

NEW GAME :D

stay out, u already rule on cpma :p

Bunnyhopping in Painkiller!
And a Quad..

I'm hoping i'm elected for the beta-testing :)

I'm pretty sure it will be 200 americans :)

Nah, they're euro :P

The game developers are, but not the publishers. The publishers are american, and said they are doing the test on there servers in america.

that sux :)

heh, good comments, now the following is based on two short movies(Atrium Complex, Opera) I have seen and want to put it on table now.

How do we know what adrian said is the true Painkiller dev/game objectives? fast and hardcore.. or did they just tell you/us what you/us want to hear...? I have heard some ppl actually read the pk dev forums, guess that could give some other pov to compare. Because the short movies I have seen shows some player with good aim, but dont show anything fast or furious or any special physics(actually looks kind of slugish SS). Instead of fast stuff, it shows some bullet time or slow motion feature, targeting harmless monsters :( but still, in interview, was used the word fast and harcore, alot...

Dosent take away the good stuff about combinning weapons, bright skins, hit tones, crosshairs, stats, good features in my book.

Anywho, still looking forward to it, of course.

You guys go painkiller, Ill take over Quake while you away :p

finally someone that got the same point as me
i mean it's easy to speak geek for geek readers, and to speak technicals for technicals readers.
it's just a matter of commercial aim.

How was anything he said, "geek", As you call it... I think its all pretty down to earth for any gamer.. Its not all pr propaganda crap like most developers.

maybe cause the "develloper propaganda" doesnt use "our" language, then someone come and use it and bling bling we all fall in love.

Again, i have nothing against these guys or this game, or you, just i love to be the devil attorney.

I mean if gabe newell(hl2) come to esr and say "hey m4n we rox with our new anti-bastard-cheaters stuff"
Will it make the game better ? or should we just wait for something to try.. (demo?)

iam patiently waiting :)

well an mp demo is pretty much what needed to convince nonbelievers like blobzor how much this game will rock. Its good that you're not all excited and stuff mate, cuz u might judge things more clearly and foresee possible flaws, let me remind you tho that it aint an anticipation for a whole new gameplay that will revolution and make us stuck like quake did sum years ago. Im implying ut's gameplay which promiced a lot but offered nothing (to me at least, or other fast paced games fans)

The game's specs seem to offer what i need and thats good enough for me. I dont mind if adrian or the whole crew speaks geeky or cool or whatever, as long as the game will satisfy our lust for hardcore gameplay and intense action.

i know i might be wrong in the end, but at least it got my pation and anticipation woke up and simply cant wait.

/punfs

I REALY hope this is gonna be the game wich can replace UT and Q3 for me.
