[PCF]Adrian: We will release MP movies for those of you who won't make it to the "200" list of testers.
ESReality: About physics.
ESReality: Drexcyian: We've heard that Painkiller will have Quakeworld alike physics, will there be any new type of physics no seen before in the game?
[PCF]Adrian: Whenever we say we want to have QW physics, we don't mean it literally. We mean the facts like in QW you REALLY feel your weight, you really feel the power of rocket blast, etc. It's VERY important to use, to make you believe you are really fighting, not some 3D model... And thanks to Havok we have that.
[PCF]Adrian: So effects like knocbacks etc. are already implemented and they feel natural.
ESReality: What about movement, i.e. strafe jumping, bunny hopping? I think he meant this style of physics. Is there any new types of movement skills we haven't seen before?
[PCF]Adrian: Believe it or not, but we have been working on bunny hopping for OVER 3 months now. Yes, just on this one little feature. We have internal discussion board, where some posts take an hour to read. That's the level of "seriousness" we put into the movement. And BH is still not finalized, we're still working on that.
[PCF]Adrian: Ok, first: "is there any new types of movement skills we haven't seen before". When we implemented Havok, we wondered "hmm, it would be cool if people would discover some moves we never planned, just as people discovered BH in QW". And yesterday we found such a thing, but I won't tell you what it is :) It will stay in the game, though, so don't worry, you'll find it pretty soon.
[b]SoGamed:[/b] a few short questions quickly, Larvi asks do you think painkiller has a chance on the market of competitive multiplayer games?
[PCF]Adrian: "do you think painkiller has a chance on the market of competitive multiplayer games?"...
[PCF]Adrian: Yes.
[PCF]Adrian: :)
[b]SoGamed:[/b] Mixa asks: what other fps have you played and what did you think either good or bad bout about them, for example AI in titles like cuss/chaser?
[PCF]Adrian: As for other FPS games... Let me think ::
[PCF]Adrian: I won't be badmouthing other developers here, but the truth is one of the reasons we have done PK is the fact that we find most PC games boring. I can tell you, though, what gave me some fun in the last year or so. NOLF2 was the best SP FPS experience in a long time. I had *some* fun with Chaser.
[PCF]Adrian: Oh and of course we lost some development time to BF1942 ;)
ESReality: How will you support the "competitive gaming scene" aka "pro-gaming", seeing as a famous company decided to charge tournament organizers for using their game competitively?
ESReality: I.e., Would your dream be to see it at the same level of competition as Counter Strike is, with over 100000 players online everyday.
