i guess the delays caused by some of the teams in EMS are the reason for this, but i really doubt its gonna change for 2v2.

There were so many TDM 4v4 tournaments in the past weeks/months with ESH, CB, kuh3 and ESL. But the total amount of teams has been more or less the same for the past 2 years. During the last EMS7 Qualifiers, I can't say I was impressed by the number of teams who signed up. Also it's a common problem to have teams being unable to propose 2 dates for a given week due to all the competitions.

At the moment, there is zero TDM 2v2 competition (excepted for the 2 level cups). But we have:
- CA 4v4: kuh3liga, ClanBase
- CA 2v2: HoQ
- CTF: kuh3liga, ClanBase, HoQ
- TDM 4v4: kuh3liga, ClanBase, ESH

We've had 3 nice seasons with 4v4, now it's just time to move on.

How many seasons do we have duel? Should we move on? What a stupid reason to switch to 2v2.

I agree with Nukm. 4v4 is getting popular more and more and now they switch to 2v2.

Count them... Excepted for 1-day cups, there aren't so many duel online competitions.

(tox had 77 kills and 8 deaths, issue 10 kills 60 deaths ^^)

I'm not making fun by the way, I know what tox & fox were like at the time, they actually won that Eurocup without losing a single match. (through that season they won 26 maps and only lost 2, 1 vs zyvve & labur and 1 vs cooller & Jibo in the final).

Yarr, tox and fox were beasts back in the 2005-ish period. They would routinely rape other 4v4 EC TDM players by double scores in 2v2.

"tox" and "fox", they both have "ox" in their nickname. I don't think that's a coincidence. I reckon they both got castrated prior to their quake careers, that's the secret to success.

Have to say I'm a bit surprised that ESL hasn't payed out these small prizes. But the people that still hasn't received there money should make it public, don't let ESL get away with this nonsense.

everything but tdm 4v4 or ctf 4v4 is fail, 4v4 tdm is atm way more active then 2 seasons ago and now they decide to switch Oo.

There were so many walkovers in 4v4 tdm and now at the start of a new season everyone says "4v4 is more active than ever" then a few weeks later 25% of teams drops out of the cup again.
Not saying 2v2 is the right choice, but those players who had the chance to prove they wanna actually play blew that many times and as many mentioned above prize money can't be the motivator here as it's not sure to get paid out. So why haven't these players played in the previous cups? Might as well give 2v2 a chance.

I think 2v2 is the right choice. 4v4 is just too random for me, and so much spam and stuff....

I gotta agree, I enjoy watching (and playing) tdm 2v2's a lot more than 4v4. I find it more interesting and a lot more punishing when a team is better than the other. But I don't play in tournaments though, so my opinion doesn't matter that much.

1. Hold cup in one mode
2. Don't pay out prizes
3. Hold new cup in different mode, hoping to get different players
4. ???
5. PROFIT

Since here we concluded that money isn't a issue. They don't pay up anyways so they could offer some small ammounts to be clear in the first place. People and many teams would play anyway, just like they do now.

They should've done ctf and 2 TDM cups. More teams active in esl more popular it get's. more coverage etc

Also don't quite get the 2v2 isn't good now, vs 4v4 is better now.
Any quake action is good if good teams will play, you can watch duels every weekend, you can watch some hoq action, maybe bibs will reactivate, you can watch 2v2 tdm and soon prolly some CB OC and EC tdm :)
