Compared to other pros rapha's lg is prolly one of the worst. Avek, cypher, cooller, u, k1llsen, strenx, stermy, dahang and spartie should be top10 players and everyone does have a better lg than rapha. Other european players should have a better lg too like madix and so on.
I mean it wasn't intended as an insult but c'mon that czm lg is really weak and even I would rape him in a lg fight. I didn't knew that he was playing on a laptop with a crappy mouse but still he is far away from being top.
I know that you don't need a good lg to be the best but it sucks to back off with a huge stack advantage because your opponent rapes you in a lg fight. Just take a look at k1llsen vs rapha when rapha got outaimed on every weapon and lost fights though he had the better position. I like rapha's style but I'm glad that he doesn't have the best aim otherwise every tournament would be boring as hell :P

Mhn I think your lg/aim is better oO. Yeah I'm prolly wrong and have a different impression. At gamescom rapha's lg was in some fights really good but I still think he could improve it :P.

Id say they are very close, who is better is not really easy to judge.

Rapha's lg looks bad because he dodges first and aims with it after, so in lg battles he is dodging your LG first and aiming his after, which actually hurts more unless he runs out of lg ammo.

toxjq once said that he does that same and his lg looks "pretty solid".

But yeah, rapha's lg never struck me as being bad/ineffective.

rapha lg is actually good if not very good (i'm only comparing to others top players here), but he dodges a lot. I would say that he's almost as effective as cooller at dodging in fights and almost as effective as av3k at going in/out of a fight.

basically it's like :

when cooller decides to attack you, he's like "ok i'll own you hard there, i'll outsmart and outdodge your face as if you were a 12yo kid, you won't even see that coming right in your face, SOSI !" and often everything goes as planned, he humiliates you. But when he fails, he will just stay in the battle until he dies, he will try to make as much dmg as he can and confuse you as much as he can with his dodges before he dies.

when av3k decides to attack you, he's like "should i attack now ? or wait a bit more ? ok, enough thinking, +frwrd mode [on] off". And often he has perfect timings and makes the frag that he needed to make. When things don't go as planed, he will just +back like a fucking monkey, i mean he will find a way to escape the fight, he will trick you hard to get out of the fight even if, at the end, he's left with only 25hp. Often it works like a charm.

rapha is probably a mix of both. He's a smart & balanced player. You could still say that his weakness is his aim, but you wouldn't be 100% right. Actually his aim is even good enough to make him one of the best quake player ever, of all times.
Btw, his defensive rockets are one of the best ever out of all the pro players. And each time he has to hit a crucial rail, he hits it, unlike cooller :).

I think this looks really encouraging from czm. Cooller has only just recently started aiming like he used to and he's been hard at it for quite some time now. To play like this, this early on in his 'come back' - I can't wait to see how he'll be playing in a few months time.
I think world top 5 in 6 months if he applys him-self.

he is very consistantly coming in 2nd place. i think he is living up to his potential already. and alltho the winning player changes frequently, you can almost bet your money that cooller will be atleast second.

where you can say players like rapha, avek, cypher are top3 contenders, i dare say cooller is a top2 contender.

And that I do agree with (although cooller has come in 3rd several times so I don't see a reason that to say he's a top2 contender).

I just think its foolish for the original poster to say pretend that cooller hasn't been playing up to his potential [and that's why he isn't straight up #1]. He has been playing up to his potential and he's always been in the mix, just all times unlucky.

Just the kind of fanboyism that "OHHH if cooller was 100% he'd be dominating" is pretty petty and stupid...

czm just needs to practice. Unless he's found better things to do with his time. Top quake players are good because they put a lot of effort into dedicated practice. They aren't just naturally good because of super human genetics. This is why Thresh never plays publicly. Because he doesn't want to lose his unbeatable image. You have to respect z4 and czm for showing up despite being rusty.
