I got cheap headphones and an additional cheap headset that I put around my neck when I actually need a mic, does the job for me. Headset is hama I think :> but in general hama is crap.

I did that, too. after ~4 years the microphone wire ripped ion some damage part, then last weekend I decided to cut that part out and replace it with a luster terminal. Little did I know that that don't really work on headset wires :(

So, yeah I'm looking for a headset, too :P

Pretty similar story, had my pc160's for around 7 years. With my new chair which is shit :/ I kept running over the wire all the time. Picked up the headset, it was stuck and ripped the wire off at the volume control. Think I'll get some 555's

get the mouse, its fucking awesome and if youre throwing away money on overpriced shit then i say take a risk on a £7 mouse

For long years a4tech is the most popular choice in Poland, but honestly after using dozens of them for more than 15 years, including their current top gaming models I seriously wont consider playing on them again. As a matter of fact right now Im using X750BF, cause my G9 is on warranty, and I just cant stand it.

As far as shape is concerned it doesnt fit the hand too well, and so you dont feel confident while moving it. Quality isnt top either, first thing the base is not perfectly flat, and I can feel that mouse shifts a little during intense clicking. Plastic itself seems fine, but my hand unusualy sweats a lot on it, and this problem is reported by many.
Also despite it should have sensor form same vendor that Logitech and others use, cursor move isnt so smooth like in Logitechs laser opticals.

As far as shape is concerned the X748 feels a lot better, it fits hand well, but I havent played on it, and Im afraid that it may not be the best choice for people who play with their wrist. But worth checking.

There is also X738 which looks Razer inspired, but it actualy handles completly different. It seems decent, but isnt too wide, and I didnt feel too confident with it either.

No thanks, I know it. Shape based on Intellimouse Optical and poor sensor. Tracking was so poor that I sticked to a ball mouse till I got my Logitech DO (on which SWOP 45 shape was based). Even if they changed sensor (if) over time, the overall quality just wasnt there.

However it was one of the most popular models you could find in many offices and households here.

In QL I suck regardless of quality; £20 or less.

i didn't think you'd care about games... but those headset combos are soo overpriced while being plain shit unless you spent real money on them (and even then you could easily get better sound for the same money).

in ear headphones are shittest of the shit & if i had to get some then i definitely wouldnt pay more than £1 for some; sound fine too

I use push to talk for my mic, and speakers, and nobody ever heard my in-game sounds.

"dont talk so loud" makes no sense. By echo I mean they hear my ingame sounds (giving them an echo effect due to the delay from their sound). speakers too loud/mic too close but dont want to change it ;f

Ah well, i get no echo whatsoever (or produce), so its your settings or equipment :)

probably the settings i tweaked with the windows volume options. changed them for recording games (i had to increase the in game sounds that were recorded) so i guess its been passed over. dont remember what i did now though xD and i dont wanna change it as i plan to make more recordings

I've noticed I miss loads of sounds through speakers compared to headphones. But for now I suppose it doesn't matter that much with ql sound being so fucked.

all i use sound for in game is pickups & gun fire i.e. rox from behind. speakers pick them up fine for me

quake gets a lot easier once you realize you can track most of the enemy movements by sound alone. headphones help there and your team is right about the echo on voicecoms... super super annoying do not do that :p

The cheapest headphones I would recommend are Sennheiser HD 457, should be around 20 to 25 pounds. Add Trust's clip on mic for 1 pound and you are ready to go.

and i had a pair of sony mdr xd400 headphones (5Hz-30kHz ~80€ about 4 or 5 years ago - sadly i dropped them quite a few times and had to solder the wires once and had to fix some plastic that broke...)


aaaand yesterday i ordered a pair of sony mdr sa1000 (8Hz-80kHz for 73€ since they seemingly stopped making them - they used to be ~200-300€)


i use my speakers for music normally but with a decent pair of headphones the quality is just waaaaaaaaaaaaaay above any speakers you can get for under ~1000€
