The neat thing about this demo is that you clearly see he has changed his bob settings, no biggy you say? Well NiP have made a statement that they will play default + netcode tweaks, yet we find bob and so on? NiP are also quite fond of "whining" about bob... well? go figure

"bob and so on"? what else was changed? and how do u find out what was changed? all i can see in bob command changes is his gun doesnt go slightly up and down as he walks in the demo which i assume is only cl_bob

and do u really think the bob shit is gonna matter? wow look at that his gun doesnt go up and down, big damn deal, i guess hes gonna suck shit at the nex cpl event when hes forced to play by the "rules" jus like last time.

btw i remember stories about the placement of where shots land being slightly changed when bob commands are put to zero or somethin to that effect
it coulda been a bug or sumthin and it was harder to aim that way

this was a while ago, i think before cpl set rules even, but was this really true? is this only for certain bob commands? many ppl includin me set back the bob commands to defualt becuz of this

bob commands can make your crosshairs ~ 3 inches higher (when shooting directly beside a wall) then where the bullet actually goes, but, with those settings, you can also see over medium sized boxes (like the Terrorist end box on de_prodigy's crate hallway) MUCH easier.

Setting the commands to all 0's makes you ~ 3 inches taller, from your perspective. So, you can see more, but have to get used to the 3 inches aiming change.

And I also was noticing that HeatoN was moving around like he was using bob vars of 0. A few times at A bombsite when he was strafing... but... I don't mind people using the bob commands. I don't, because I can't get used to aiming down whenever I shoot :/.

Yep good point, i know a lot of very good players who will not allow their first person pov demos to be released to the public since they are sick and tired of the "eu vs us/ omg he is playing vs noobs" type flame wars that erupt. If the community doesn't learn to accept each other's opinions then what is the point in anyone working for said community? It's the reason i gave up uploading demos to XSReality a long time ago.

I recollect something about Heaton saying that he just tested the "bob" settings used in the demo at that time.

he is using them on a pub, against a bunch of no-talents. Also, from what I understood, they decided not to use bob 0 simply so that they are accustomed to the settings for LAN.

It's a 1.3 demo, and unless you haven't updated your CS yet, you won't be able to watch it until a new version of Geekplayer is released(if bds chooses to do that, of course).

Did you know that one of the major reasons of Counter-Strikes success is the fact that it is a newbiefriendly game? no matter how much you get owned in a game like Counter-Strike you will never really feel like losing, at least not as a newbie(because no matter how useless you are in front of a pc you will still manage to make a headshot once in a while)... But if you get owned in a game of Quake you will feel like you are useless, thats why so many quit playing Quake after only a short time and at the same time its a reason why the Quake-community is really a community with long lasting clans, more mature players and so forth.... But you as a Counter-Striker would never ever understand this.

So, you are the pathetic one that wont face the facts about your own so-called community...

also, the average IQ of a counter strike player is about 12, whereas quake players have IQ's over 120.

See how the CS players only type one lame sentence with terrible english, and no grammar, then you get quake players with proper paragraph and setence construction.

The hardcore of cs players dont often play publics cos the enjoyment or practical benefit is almost 0 compared to actual matches, u see in cs theres alot more strategy and teamplay
involved than say for example q3.

Which leaves publics mainly full of non hardcore players which is one of the reasons the cs community gets bad press all the time because people form opinions on the community from one sided experiences.

Play against any respected clan in the cs community and you'll find nice people who are totaly sound :)

I've been playing CS for 2 years now and have not gotten tired of by any measurement. I also played Q3 for 1 year and still do on occasion.

I like CS more because I was a huge GoldenEye fan back in the day and it reminds me of that game. All the Q3 servers I've played at I have topped the scoreboard (usually) so it got old really quick. In CS, however, someone you expected to be a total n00b can headshot you from a mile away and you always have to be careful. It is much more entertaining and rewarding IMHO.

But I guess my opinion doesn't matter because I play CS.

You guys make it sound like Quake players are much more intelligent.

The stereotypical Counter-Striker is an angry fourteen year old Asian boy who can't form complete sentances and constantly uses abbreviations such as: "gg" even when the situation has nothing to do with it being a "good game".

The stereotypical Quaker is an eighteen year old white guy who is angry at the world (for very little reason, as he lives in suburbia and his parents make decent money), probably listens to Slipknot or Rage Against the Machine and feels that the hobby of playing Quake is great and any other game is worthless... especially Unreal Tournament.

Both are what I'd say are negative stereotypes, but neither of the groups really are "gamers". Gamers play consoles, or at least branch out beyond first-person shooters. They usually won't play one game for more than a year, two at the most as some other game which is a better game has come out.

First person gamers in general are mostly angry idiots. That's how it goes, I mean you're shooting complete strangers with large guns for God's sakes... like you could expect anything else. I play most everything, and yes I usually reserve my angry idiot side for twitch FPSes.
