I have played Halo and Team Fortress 2 on servers all around the world with around 200 ping and it feels like playing on lan but the game i love, Quake3, is unplayable on anything over 100 ping =/

Is it because those other games have a very optimized netcode? And does Quake Live have a good netcode as such?

Where i live, there are no quake servers anymore and i wouldnt get a QL original copy without knowing its any good to me.
