The DreamHack Summer 2010 is taking place this weekend in Sweden Jönköping. This big LAN event will host the first big international Quakelive tournament of the summer with the Kaspersky QUAKE LIVE Championships. The competition will be played through a Group stage of 4 groups (bo3) and a Direct Elimination Bracket (bo5) starting with Quarter-finals.

Update: The DreamHack Summer 2010 is over and Maciej "av3k" Krzykowski is once again the winner after his 1st rank at DreamHack Winter 2009! You can already get the demos & configs and watch some VODs (on LevelupTV & DAE). Check the download option on LevelupTV on fileplay.

The DreamHack Summer 2010 is taking place this weekend in Sweden Jönköping. This big LAN event will host the first big international Quakelive tournament of the summer with the Kaspersky QUAKE LIVE Championships. A few streams will be available to follow the Quakelive matches on LevelupTV (HQ + LQ) or even on Germany GameSports.de. Also United Kingdom James "2GD" Harding will team up with LevelupTV to bring live commentaries for some Quake matches and interviews with the players!

Belarus Alexey "Cypher" Yanushevsky began his trip to DreamHack Summer 2010 this Wednesday, when he departed from Minsk in a train to Warsaw, where he was picked up by his friend and clanmate, Poland Maciej "av3k" Krzykowski. During Cypher's short stay in the Polish capital city, we filmed an interview in which he discuses a number of things, such as his attitude towards Quake Live, the e-sports scene in Belarus, as well as his expectations of the upcoming DreamHack and ESWC tournaments. The last qualifier for Kasperskys Quake Live Championship at Dreamhack Summer 2010 was finished this weekend. Sweden fox managed to pick up the spot for the tournament in a convincing way beating players like Poland bodzo and Sweden fooki to secure his spot.

The schedule has also been released. The majority of the games will be played on Saturday and Sunday, leaving only the Semi final and Grand final to be played on Monday. Note that small changes can be done to these times.

With just over a week left to DreamHack Summer 2010 open its doors two players has been added to the startup list and the last online qualifier have just been announced. Since neither the winner or the runner up of ZOTAC #33 could attend the event, DreamHack is inviting both the winner Lithuania Guard and the runner up Belgium Dem0n of ZOTAC #34.

The last qualifier will be run by newly announced PlayDH website. The winner of a 16 player, single elimination tournament will not only win a spot at the Kaspersky QUAKE LIVE Championships. He will also win 5 000 SEK (~500 Euro). The winner must attend the event in order to receive the prize. Current invited and qualified players will not be allowed to participate.

American Quake Live player United States of America DaHanG will unfortunately not be able to participate at DreamHack Summer 2010. DreamHack will therefor open up one more spot for a online qualifier hosted by ZOTAC which will determine the next player invited to the main tournament.


ZOTAC QUAKE LIVE Cup #34 is held May 30th, register to get a chance to win a spot in the Kaspersky QUAKE LIVE Championships.

Information regarding the 3rd and final online qualifier will be announced shortly.

The last three doors into the tournament are the BYOC Qualifier at the event. There are still plenty of spots left in this qualifier.

The Kaspersky QUAKE LIVE Championships at DreamHack Summer 2010 are now one month ahead. Today, DreamHack announced the last three wildcards into the tournament. The lucky players are Sweden Z4muZ, Austria noctis and Germany k1llsen.


ZOTAC runs QUAKE LIVE Cup #33 this Sunday, the highest placed player that's not already in the invite list wins a spot at the Kaspersky QUAKE LIVE Championships.

DreamHack will announce information about the 2nd and last online qualifier shortly.

The last three doors into the tournament are the BYOC Qualifier at the event. There are still plenty of spots left in this qualifier.

The Kaspersky's Quake Live Championships is halfway filled with the hottest Quake Live players available. Tonight Italy Stermy and Sweden Spart1e received a wildcard each.

Statement from Dreamhack:
Stermy is no stranger to competition on the highest level and has been at DreamHack before, finishing on 4th at DreamHack Winter 2009 we are sure he is keen on revenge. Spart1e is one of Sweden's most talented player right now and we are positive that he will do his absolute best fighting for his team fnatic at The Kaspersky Quake Live Championship.

With Stermy and Spart1e invited there's currently 3 more Wildcards available. If you still haven't signed up for a wildcard and want to have a chance to attend and play in this summers hottest Quake Live tournament it's about time that you head over to the tournament site and apply for a wildcard. The deadline to apply for a wildcard is Saturday May 15, 12:00 CET

Today Russia Cooller and United States of America DaHanG received an invitation each to Kaspersky Quake Live Championship at DreamHack Summer 2010 19-22 June.

Statement from Dreamhack:
We are very pleased to welcome Cooller, one of the indisputable best Quake players ever, to Sweden and DreamHack this Summer. Joining him from the United States of America we are also very pleased to present DaHanG who is an American Quake-legend.

Dreamhack also announced the Kaspersky Achievement Award which is an award who will be handed out to the most entertaining player in the tournament.

Last week DreamHack announced information regarding the QUAKE LIVE tournament at DreamHack Summer 2010 which is boosting a total prize purse of 50 000 SEK. From now on, the official tournament name will be Kaspersky Quake Live Championship as the antivirus company has signed 1-year sponsorship deal.


Kaspersky and DreamHack will also give a way a special prize for the most entertaining player in the tournament. The winner will be decided by an open community vote. More information regarding this will be announced as we get's closer to the event.

DreamHack is also excited to invite France strenx and Belarus Cypher directly to the Main tournament. They join Poland av3k and Sweden fazz as the 3rd and 4th players ready for the tournament.

Players may still apply for an invite by signing up at the tournament site. It will also be possible to qualify directly at DreamHack Summer 2010.

After last year's successful tournament, the DreamHack staff is happy to announce the format for Quakelive at DreamHack Summer 2010, held at Sweden Jönköping on June 19-22th. The total prize purse for Quake Live at DreamHack Summer 2010 will be 50 000SEK ($6,620).

The defending champion, Poland srs/rzr/av3k, has already been invited to the tournament. Sweden fazz qualified last weekend when he won the qualifier at The Gathering 2010. The tournament will have a total of 16 spots. 7 more slots will be filled direct invitations and 4 more players will qualify in an international qualifier, which is yet to be announced. The last 3 spots will go to the top3 of a BYOC Qualifier at Dreamhack Summer 2010.

Players who want to receive an invite must sign up before 05:00 CDT, 15 May 2010 on the tournament website.
