With remake I was actually trying to mean a reboot, and I meant like if they make the game and it's called just "Half Life" (Like how Doom 4 is called Doom and how UT4 is just UT) or if it's just some side story called "Half Life: The Green Ctrl" or something idk. As in something that you couldn't necessarily refer to as a "HL3".

Not so much the game as the fans of the game. For the most part I have no problem with the hl franchise. except I won't put it on a pedestal and treat it like some revolutionary piece of art.

Various things. most notably a kind of recent leak showing Valve's workers assignments, and a group was assigned to it. Also other stuff like finding hl3 named objects in Source 2 files, Gaben directly hinting when he said they were working on "ricochet 2" smiling, etc etc.

There's NOTHING that makes to think Valve would ever avoid releasing a sequel to its most beloved series. But they got various troubles, apparently it was in kind of an advanced development when they decided they weren't releasing it on Source 1 and Gaben wasn't satisfied with it, so they started again

Unpopular opinion but Half-Life is hugely overrated and this is coming from a guy who's played both half-life's and all of their expansions.

I'm right with you on that. It's a decent series, but even it's story, it's main strenght, is kind of mediocre.

But it's fans are absolutely mental, its a cult. I've frequented some hl forums for months, and you wouldn't believe the kind of shit they say. Like on top of my head i remember a guy claiming Sauron's tower and eye in Lord Of The Rings was inspired by Half Life. Shit like that gets posted on a daily basis.

Not to mention that 90% of posts are people FROTHING at Valve for "betraying them" and "lying to them", direct threats to Gabe, and questions like "Why do you think Valve hates us and wants to prolong our sufferings?" in a non ironic way. Unbelievable.

Yeah I mean I was quite excited for half-life 3, like a decade ago, nowadays I really couldn't care less if it was announced tomorrow and I probably wouldn't even get it on day of release but instead wait for a sale instead.

HL1 was incredible at release date.

Indeed. And I was so skeptical about HL2 I put off playing it for ages as I didn't want it to ruin my golden memories, but when I eventually started HL2 it fucking blew me away just as much as HL1 did.

HL1 remains to date my favourite gaming experience, marginally ahead of Deus Ex.

Maybe, but it hasn't aged well, I could go back to Loz Wind Waker and still have a damn good time, even on its native 480i.

Even with 1080p and some graphic mods, the original half-life still feels old, it's a fantastic game but i just don't think it's aged very well.

Play Sven Coop with friends. The game's graphics aged so badly that they make HL1 coop a very fun experience in 2016, full of laughter. For cooperative play the game aged for the better.

It was. Truly revolutionary. Hl2 instead, kind of fell short, it failed to be as much of a game changer as hl1 was. Hl2 hasn't aged well, it certainly isn't the absolute masterpiece it's make up to be. It's main strenght was the graphic and physic engine, and that part is still enjoyable, but man, are the characters, story and dialogues flat and cheesy.
