I had a major crush on trying to beat video roulette about 7 years ago, to be honest, rapha and cypher are little more than RED/BLACK/ODD/EVEN/HIGH/LOW in terms of Quake as they are both the two most dominant possibilities so this kind of split is nothing beyond a mild coincidence to me.

Try seeing 19 reds come up in a row and you soon realise strange and fucked up shit can and does happen....

Would like to see Evil win actually, but for Cypher to lose is good because he was kinda getting that boring god status lately.

I hit table limits on the 5-6th spin, and played £100 table limit for the remainder and lost the best part of 2k in about 5 mins :)

There are 37 options (0 to 36).
Each option is equally likely (at least that is assumed).
Odds of getting it 1ce is 1 in 37 = 1/37.
Odds of getting it 2ce in a row is (the option of getting it 1ce)^2 = 1/1369... Odds of it happening 3 times in a row is (1/37)^3 = 1/50653.

The previous example you had 2 options.... 1/2... 1/2^x -> likelyhood of a certain pattern (regardless of which pattern you want) happening of x length.
Of course this doesn't mean that 1ce every so often that pattern will happen, just means that it's that likely ;)

If you knew statistics then you wouldn't play any pure gambling game at all... Unless the expected utility is > 1.
So for instance if we throw a 6 sided dice and each time it lands on 1 you give me 8$ and each time it ends on any other number I give you 1$.... Those kinda gambling games are awesome for me :D

But in the casino the expected utility is always < 1. Which in roulette (which in most casino's the payoff of getting the number right is either (input * 36 or 37) getting the color right is (input * 2) the odds of winning are 50/50 IF the 0 would not be there. The 0 tips the odds to around 47.5/52.5 Where the casino takes home the 2.5% extra (which you lose in the long term)

Besides all the fuckups often related to qcon there is something about the event that is just so awsome. It brings back memories, even from games not played on the stream like doom and wolfenstein.

I really wish that we could get a full round-robin tournament like rapha has been asking for so long, make it a 1 week thing so you can get some awsome team action going aswell. Even if the winners in the end probably wouldn't change too much there would be so many amazing matchups to watch. Great vaccation for the quake enthusiast and loads of harosh games for the stream viewers.

Consider this:

Who does rapha have to practice against in NA? DaHang? Chance?

Meanwhile cypher can play any of the top duelers in EU including evil if he really wanted.

Also consider the fact that rapha has pretty mediocre aim compared to evil or cypher and that he basically learned how to play q3 against bots.

It's clear to me that his brain game is on another level from evil, cypher, cooller, or anyone else. Is it as flashy as shooting 70% rail in duel? Maybe not but the results speak for themselves.

With that said dahang, chance, zero4, zorak, dkt, etc..
aren't exactly slouches they can steal games off of top europeans though probably because of a different approach.

Is that mediocre aim? Frankly, I thought his aim was stupid during QuakeCon which gave him a huge upper hand.

Also, how is Rapha so good on Elder? I feel like Rapha had a lot longer of time to practice on that map than the others as he clearly smoked anyone that he faced on that map.

raphas movement on elder was far superior than anyone else on the tournament.... so rapha is the most crebral player, has godly positioning, godly defensive rockets, godly movement, godly "cold blood" in big moments, good aim and good rail.... he is lucky to be a champ! (sarcasm obviously)

What i was surprised about during the finals was rapha's aim. He was hitting average lg like he always does and then as soon he vs evil his lg accuracy improves by like 20%...
