Sometimes while I'm playing my keyboard will not work for a few moments... like if I'm running forward, I suddenly stop and can't move at all and sometimes my left click won't work and I can't shoot. It only lasts a moment or two and it happens so randomly like once in every 20 games.

Just curious if anyone has any experience with anything like this or if it's just me then it's probably my computer. I play on a laptop so perhaps that's it...

Happens rarely to me right after game start. Like some key is stuck and I need to press it before other works, it's strange. :)

do you use the wait command in any of your scripts? it blocks all input for the duration of its effect to prevent stuff like pikcup timer scripts etc

I have a similar problem with my razor chroma keyboard.

suddenly it strafes left or right without pressing the keys.

To stop this I have to open up the menu and going back to the game.

Really really annoying during duel :(

Any idea how this can happen? Seems to occur randomly.

+thing activates when you press a key
-thing activates when it's released

sometimes things happen like menus or map loads that cause -thing to not get received so it's still stuck on +thing, tapping the same key again will solve the issue as long as it is that which has happened and not an actual hardware fault.
Or if you know which thing it is you can type the - version into the console, eg \-moveup

Oh wow half of you guys have pretty much the exact issue I'm having...I use a laptop, so is it quake, or my computer/mouse?

Any known fixes? cha0z_ and others have described the exact sane problem... is it steam? quakelive? computer? Would like to know... it's not a deal breaker but very annoying when it happens right in the middle of a fight and I suddenly stop shooting or can't move and become an easy target!

laptop keyboards are just shit. you'll end up locked out of all kinds of things. They're just not at all comparable to a full n-key rollover keyboard.

Are you aware of the input-dropping issue with different in_mouse settings (forget which one tbh, because it's different in different mods, ql, etc.)? It shouldn't affect keyboard input, but like you said earlier it could still be stuck inputs. At least for the mouse, raw input fixes it. Maybe QL added some new weird shit to break the keyboard as well... Sadly, I don't have this issue so I can't find a solution ;d

It was an issue I had in Q3 for a long time, where +attack or +moveup would get stuck if I dropped a frame while also letting go of the button - basically what you said in an earlier post.

I asked some folks in-game about this and nearly the entire server piped up saying they had the same thing happen to them like once every 200 games or so... guess it's not common enough to cry about it too hard... and at least now I know it's not my keyboard or computer, but an issue with the game itself in some way...
