lets say 16 players 30eur attendance fee. makes it 480. 300 1st place 100 second 50 3rd and 30 for random shit. it surely would attract more players and therefore more tdm teams. but it is difficult to host 2 tournaments within 3 days. also it depends on the size of the cafe. the admins actually might check that out

Where duel cup ? organizators if you present duel lan whith tdm , you have + 70 persent donats (on duel). 125fps league have 500-600 every month ,what you waiting?

Do you think duel tournament with let's say €50 signup fee, but in best case €500 award for first place will even get 16 signups?

(Assume €50 is just the cost of renting a PC, awards would come only from donations).

I'm afraid duelers still live in a world of online money tournaments (Faceit, 125 fps, Memento's one-offs), so they don't think of a LAN as a vacation and convention they'd need to pay for.

I'm not even sure if there's enough TDMers feeling like that about it. I'm actually surprised 4 Old Men signed up. Do they know there's little chance of even having prizes? :)

Have you tried contacting BenQ for sponsoring? Because they also did the biggest gaming tournament in Czech BenQ Grunex Challenge. That would solve the monitors. Might be wishful thinking but it's worth a try.

Spectators are allowed, but I'm sure that 200 spectators won't fit in there. I would consider 40-50 to be the maximum (you can check the video, to see how big the place is).

As for paying for spectating, I can't really tell right now. There might be some kind of entrance fee (let's say 5EUR) or maybe just optional fee, where people decide how much they want to pay/donate.

In this regard, it would be great if people going to spectate would consider donating a few bucks as the team fees might not cover all of the rent for the location.

I actually did LAN at fates condo with a bunch of defiance peeps in like 2009. Many blunts were smoked, lots of tdm was played. too much RA3 was played tho, but hey thats where those guys came from so I rolled with it :p And then all of them never played again rofl.

Any idea of a schedule, when it will start friday, and when it will end sunday?

Approx schedule: start on friday ~9am (setting up your computer, etc), end on sunday ~8-9pm.. It really depends on the number of teams and how far you get in the tournament.

take into account that most people have to leave early on sunday, so the finals should be over before sunday noon. I remember the-party.nl when gunzoids had to forfeit the final with 2-2 map score because they had to catch their trains. free win for DP no one was happy with that.

The Party ended in the afternoon and their flight departured around 5/6 pm.
But at Adroits the LAN ended around 2 am (sunday-monday).

So if it ends around 8-9 pm I would suggest to take the monday off from work or whatever..

You might consider approaching Dis and Vor for levelup coverage (via external access) of the event, be a good idea to do this as soon as you know its going to happen, as Dis is busy with work etc...

I love dis and vor but I would prefer zoot getting players on the stream to cast etc.

To each there own, i would prefer coverage from a proven and experienced "tdm" specific casting crew. However, having players cast as well has its merits, getting them to cast without messing up schedules on the other hand is a logistical issue.

Zoot is good at what he does - he'd be screaming out his lungs and jumping from excitement even if he was streaming grass grow.

But he needs an actual color commentator, that is someone who knows what's happening in a TDM match (hint: not ins).


That's also why dlCompare final was painful to watch. A game is definitely over at 16:40 and it's time to start analyzing what went wrong/what made the win, make predictions for following maps, or just entertain us with farming talk (ddk+ischju was really good combo in the qualifier!)

Instead, without a proper color commentator, Zoot's fake excitement continues until the last seconds, really tiring. He only needed someone to start analysing. He'd knew when to interrupt him for short moments of true excitement (props to Zoot for learning that, I know how hard skill it is :))
