I always love when I hear of a site like this (Virgin Gaming being another example), but I get so let down when I look at what games are actually played.

good point actually, it was fine with me to get rid of pb and have no cheat protection at all but we really need something new sooner or later

a) it doesn't prevent any technical cheats, at most it will create a arms race between people who make them and people who try to prevent them.

b) you can just as easily have someone standing behind you timing all the items or someone speccing the opponent and telling his position using ventrillo or whatever, how is your precious punkbuster going to prevent that from happening?

1) it did have the signatures of quite a few cheats in the end, mostly the updates by themselves caught some hackers.
2) a wh or a bot are very different from friends doing the item timing for you (and you know that).

there is no difference, cheating is cheating.

the difference is, we have (rather: had) a tool to catch hackers, we have almost no way to prevent the other. it's illogical to say the least to believe this is somehow a valid reason not to use such a tool.

You could just let people have the timings, then they couldn't cheat like 2. Actually, it's not a bad idea, at least for helping newbs. Just show the timings on the screen, like that spec feature but when you're playing. Who wants to do a bunch of math anyway?

some do their job quite well atm, not? esl wire for example, but the esl said once that they payed a 5 digit sum for development

dont see its going big. from the moment you realize who youre up against betting becomes unreasonable for one party. on those matches where 2 equally skilled players play both of them will lose money and only the site earns due to the fee.
