Hello everyone, I'm fresh off the boat at ESReality.com and I'm glad I've found you. This seems to be the most knowledgeable hardware/gaming community on the internet!
I've stumbled into something of a dilemma after discovering your site. I used to think mice were simple, Razer and Logitech rule, and there's nothing else to the equation. This forum has changed my outlook greatly, and how refreshing it is! I'm looking to buy a new mouse to replace my very old MS Wireless Optical 2.0 (ew...) and there's so many things to consider.
I need something lightweight, 3-4 ounces preferably as well as compact. It must also have 1000 or so DPI. The reason for this is that I'm mostly an SC2 player, and I need to upgrade to something that gives me a higher sensitivity at 1280x1024 than my current mouse is capable of. Unfortunately SC2 changes your windows sensitivity, so this can't be corrected in-game. However, I'm also an avid CoD4 promod player, and I can't have things like +/- accel and prediction mucking up my shots.
My first find was the Kinzu, and though it's form was gorgeous in a utilitarian sort of way, it reportedly has bad accel problems. Next I discovered the MX518, which unfortunately suffers from prediction that I just can't have. Finally I rested my eyes on the collection Razer has amassed. However many here and elsewhere claim they make cheap products that fail quickly. In order to remain profitable the company also seems to consistently put up larger numbers as time goes on. This seems to have led to poor design choices, specifically in the case of sensors. The DA seems attractive, but it's so large and heavy my hands simply cannot handle it well, and I'm not willing to waste money on something that may so easily fail.
I present this query to you, wise ESR; which, if any, holds the title of truly balanced mouse?
