So in december i bought a kickass 120Hz LCD screen from viewsonic. I do love it, but of course it comes with a ton of problems..

After frequent searching over the last months i STILL have not found a solution to enable 120Hz on _non native_ resolutions when using an ATI card.

nVidia on the other hand can enable it by adding coustum resolutions in their drivers, ATI do not have an option similair to this.

To avoid questions, here's what i've tried:
Changing monitor EDID.
Adding a costum res using various programs (Powerstrip and programs similar.)
Changing driver .inf files

The stupid thing is: On windows 7, it works just fine. It amazes me that they wouldn't include this in their XP drivers.. I mean why not?

I know this has been talked to death, but googling for it won't get me anywhere, so asking here is kind of the last resort. Thanks for any reply's and sorry for the lack of engrish skills!

Fixed: With the latest 10.3 Drivers, you choose to Scale using your GPU.

Here's how: Check GPU scaling and choose "Maintain aspect ratio". Then change your Windows res (with the good ol' right-click properties method) and change from 1680x1050 to 800x600. You should now have 800x600 in windows with 120Hz. Now start up counter strike (source) with "-freq 120" in launch options. If it doesn't work right away, fiddle around with it by alt+tabbing in and out. Now you should have 800x600 @ 120Hz with blackbars.
