I'm currently using my wmo without any problems but am looking to try something new. I'm pretty scared of buying an abyssus due to the horrible sensor/jittering problems that I had on my last one 9-12 months ago and am just interested to know if the League of Legends edition of this mouse or any other more recent model would have any of these issues fixed?

It seems strange to me that this mouse uses the exact same sensor as the DA (3.5G), yet has huge problems tracking on alot of cloth surfaces while the DA itself is fine. Maybe razer fixed the firmware issues in this latest edition of the mouse? Maybe not.

I asked myself the same some time ago. I was about to buy it, but my doubts it could have the same jitter as my old Abyssus were stronger.

I see your point, but it's not so easy where I live, infact razer's retailing price in Australia is actually $69.99, the cheapest I could probably get it for is around the $40 mark.

Anyway that's beside the point, I find it interesting that cooller/cypher use it without complaints now, you'd think that the jitter would be more of a problem unless they've found a fix or something.

As far as I can tell, it's free shipping to Australia with the air mail. Have ordered a few times from this guy before and mates have and he's very good. May be a bit of a wait for Australia, but worth it when you consider from Razer it's almost double the price + you have to pay huge shipping costs

I have to say, it does jitter for me on a qck pad, but I only really notice it when opening up MSpaint and drawing out lines. I still get the feeling ingame sometimes that it's 'snagging' (almost like the cable getting stuck on something), but that's the jitter. On a puretrack talent pad it's better. I don't have a Razer pad which people say it works fine on.

I haven't done anything with firmware though. Anyone fancy posting info on what firmware version you need to install and if it actually makes a difference?

edit: mirror is better for me anyway. Haven't tried the other version, but if it's anything like the deathadder coating then I wouldn't like it. Mirror gets a bit fingerprinty, but I couldn't care less

They both use (switched?) to the one mouse pad that is known to work 99% of the time with the abyssus, the goliathus speed. And I'd be surprised if someone from razer didn't test out the mouse before shipping it to each. I have a hard time believing either one ordered online or went and purchased it locally just out of the blue.

99% I dont think so, the goliathus speed is supposedly jitter free but is the one mousepad I had problems with when using my old abyssus. I'd say they've fixed it via firmware in the newer models.

Afaik Cypher uses Deathadder. About the jittering; I know that Deathadder only works on Razer pads like Goliathus. Otherwise it will sometimes just behave wierd (like turning ur pov into the sky). Maybe this is the same issue with the Abyssus? If so, then all you need is a Razer pad.

Cypher uses the abyssus. Also, a death adder with updated firmware has no problems on any surface, even tables and glossy magazines. (I have one and have tested this)

Early Abyssus had jitting, it's apparently been fixed via the firmware.. The only problem is when you buy one from retailers, you don't know what version you will get. (buying direct from Razer, you should get the latest version).

I'd recommend buying the LoL version, as this was released after the firmware update, so you shouldn't have any jittering problems.

I could be wrong, this is just what I've read on esr.

Someone else thought the same and ordered directly from razer, but it had jitter(again for him), while i had my 2nd jitter free one from amazon already(1st bought mid of dec, 2nd bought mid of jan).

You can flash the firmware you know, so it really doesn't matter with witch one your mouse will come. Just read forums etc, how abyssus perform with the newest firmware version, and check in razer site change logs of the firmware versions since start. I had 3 mouses from them, first thing I did was to flash them with the newest firmware, because otherwise their mouses are pure...SHIT :). Razer are knows to sell mouses that aren't good on firmware level, and then "repair" them in something like 3-6m.

The shape and weight is awesome. You can move the mouse much faster and have better control over it because of the size/weight. I will be switching back as soon as I can.

I would say it's the best shape of the Razer mouses (for those who like finger/claw grip and lightweight mouses). Not the perfect shape though, I've found Kinzu's shape near perfect, also Zowie Mico looks like to have a very good shape too for fingertip grip.

So this is using an LoL edition Abyssus that I got from Amazon about a week ago:

The jitter is the worst on my Talent, but it also happens a little bit on my QcK+ and Kai.G3. It doesn't happen on any vertical line, I have to rotate the mouse about 15 degrees to the right or left of vertical and then move it along the new "vertical".

All the other directions are fine, but that particular one is godawful. So beware: the LoL edition is not necessarily perfect.

The new ones don't jitter. I fell in love with the abyssus when I first got it. No prediction/acceleration. However, the lod has become a little annoying. Nothing is perfect I guess.

I'm surprised "gaming companies" haven't got it right yet. 12+ years and the engineers are still getting payed to browse facebook all day. Good thing I'm in the engineering field!

I've heard of two fixes but haven't tried them yet as they sound fishy.

(1) Partially block the sensor with tape. ??? Profit!

or

(2) Replace the LED of the sensor with a red LED. ??? Profit!

Do the tape-trick.
Just put it so that only the lens(the small round one) stays free, and use non-transparent tape(i use the one used for carton-boxes):

The red-LED doesn't work that good with this sensor, as it skips at pretty low speeds already(works good with DA rev.2 tho).

I have to disagree with you on that. What you are saying would require multiple companies to conspire. Intel and AMD can get away with that shit because they have a strangle hold on the cpu market. Gaming hardware is a much more open market. I'm sure Zowie or SS would LOVE to knock Razer down a peg by selling a mouse that every fps gamer wants to use. Unfortunately, "the perfect mouse" has yet to be made.

My LoL edition jitters some. Its best on Roccat sense pad, rly awesome pad just a bit too small. You guys should try it if you want to avoid jitter with abyssus.

I just got the standard 3.5G edition Abyssus and it seems terrible. When a try to flick the mouse horizontally to change direction, the sensor just appears to lock and ingame movement stops for about 0.3 of a sec.

Using a Qck+ so I doubt it is the surface.

Should I just return it for another or go for something different? Or do I need a different pad for it to work?
