only to swe servers i get "normal" ping ~50, ALL OTHER, german, uk, whatever i ping ~72-90, its pretty atrocious considering the distance is ~500km, i used to get ~90 only on ~1500km servers.

from interleaved to fast path, went from 80ms to 48ms just from calling my provider.

german servers shave gone up by about 30 ms for me, UK are ok

UK is indeed ok, but i don't like playing on these servers because i experience very high packet loss. I drop maybe 1 Packet once every 3 Seconds. I'm coming home from work in an hour i hope that it will be normal when i come home.

1 packets dropped every three seconds doesn't sound very dramatic to me. That's like 0.3% packet loss at a standard 40 packets/s downstream and 63 upstream.

Well, in most servers i get no packetloss at all, atleast it doesnt show up in the console.

I'm from Europe and I don't have noticeably higher ping, but instead I have more fluctuations in the lagometer which is worse since it seems that every 2nd or 3rd cell of LG misses even though it's on target, and I end up getting 15pc worse aim...
I always thought it was my ISP's fault but who knows.

did you check if your connection is using interleaved or fastpath?

interleaved can result in +30 +50 whatever ping values to ALL outgoing ip destinations.

over the years I have heard of such cases alot and how they dramatically reduced their ping by contacting their isp to make the switch to fastpath.

and how do you check and how to demand?

ring isp up and ask them if it's on

Do a traceroute and look at your first hop. If its over 10-15ms then you're on interleave.

So you were on interleave but got off? nice.

Keep in mind that interleave is basically error correction so if your phone line is shit (like in most of the us for example) then any kind of noise on the line will result in lost frames and you will notice this as packetloss when playing.

yeah, got it off, i didn't experience any packet loss when playing, so line seems ok. Not much traffic still on the phone line in my city anyway, most use cable line or fiber for internet, at least for residential areas.

You get a dedicated pair of copper wires to your central office so up to that point it's not a shared medium (except with your landline phone but they use different frequencies).

Noise is interference on the line from stuff like bad wiring and fluorescent lights near phone lines etc.

Lucky you for getting on fastpath though. Lot's of ISP's don't do that :D

well in that case it's only phone line to nearest central, after that it should be fiber, and wiring seems ok :) not been over 70ms on european severs yet after fix, before i was 80ms to germany, which was one of the nearest servers.
