from what i read, porting to ps3 was difficult and a pain the ass for devers.

that's why sony seemed to have stepped it up this time. I agree with hard to program hardware for lifespan, and graphic/ai development, but in this day and age, developing is expensive enough if you wanna compete with a AAA title. although xbox3 and ps4 will be indifferent this time around, it's all about games now, which is what it should be; give us back exclusives!

ps4 will have 8gb of gddr5, while xbox durango will have 8gb of ddr3 iirc

ddr5? I thought they did even got around to ddr4 production despite the specs being released for so long.

GDDR5 isn't DDR5.

DDR memory is a different technology from GDDR. Operating voltages, latencies and burst lengths. And cell layout too to provide various bus widths.

dno what difference is exactly but i doubt it will be anything like powerpc to cell

the difference is a bandwidth of 40gb/s (generous estimate for DDR3) to 200+gb/s (gddr5)

I miss the good old days when there were REAL differences between console hardware, it all seems slightly universal now...

Hopefully with the new consoles just being locked down pc's it will lead to less shitty game ports.

Probably wishful thinking though.
