I remember thinking to myself I should get a replacement for my old shitty one just because they were so cheap but thought "ahhhh, they'll always be around..." and never bothered. When my wmo's left click started going faulty after a decade of use I went on amazon and they were all gone
are you sure? My first optical mouse i bought was a WMO and I don't remember if it said 1.1a or not but I do remember it didn't have the little white symbol on the red part and it also skipped when i flicked.
I just bought another wmo and this time it says 1.1a and has the white symbol and does not skip
anyone knows about wmo moddings or different painting? I've seen only one which was a yellow alienware wmo (ofc I won't buy something that costs 4x the price but that one was ok priced actually)
To all those that dont take this thread seriously, please go away. This is a very important issue. After eons of repairing my 2nd mx300, im starting to get sick of using thick usb cables that handicap my aim. This will be my first WMO, its a very important decision. I appreciate your support, thanks.
Only strange thing i notice is that all photos i see say "Wheel mouse optical 1.1A USB and PS2" but this one just say "Wheel mouse optical USB and PS2". Normal?
just buy a regular wmo (no modding, painting, etc). Worst case sceneario you lose at most $10 (on the other hand you can view it as a chipotle with beer)
edit: now being useful: don't care about 1.1 or 1.1A wmo. Just buy the oem one because it's the same mouse and sensor but cheaper than the boxed one.
maybe you can find it at uruguay as well.
Wmo is an office mouse therefore it might be anywhere. Actually I used it ages ago because my dad had it at his office for its ambidextrous shape.
Even so us$15 for that is a very good deal if includes taxes and everything else.
The only thing to care about is it has that crosshair-like logo on the lower part of the mouse. There are other microsoft mouses with a close shape and looks but that is the easier difference to spot.

I think that's pretty much how everyone started using the WMO :P
I remember using a WMO for years not knowing anyone else did just because it was comfortable and it was in the office so just stuck with it. When it broke I got sucked into the whole "SUPER HIGH DPI!" craze and went for Logitech thinking "oh, I really should get something a bit more up to date" then found out tons of other people swore by WMO's as well and thought "... well guess I was right" :D
Actually i got both mouse this one with "1.1a" on the bottom which i'm using couple years and this one without which just waiting when the other one will broke :D
It's the same mouse actually only scroll feels different ( better ) and maybe glidez are different - nothing more
what's the item model number? it should be: D66-00069 for the black one and D66-00029 for the white one. D66-00069 was the one I purchased at Amazon.com. That's the model number shown in the Microsoft website and if others wanted to purchase it online, just type the model number on the search function of the shopping site and you will have the correct one.
White WMO's have 2 models: the numberless ones, and the 1.1/1.1A ones. Unfortunately, if you get the pictured mouse, you'll get the old version of WMO's, their optical sensor is outdated and they skip all over the place even if you use a 500hz polling rate. The 1.1 WMO's use the explorer 3.0 sensor (450DPI instead of 400, also), and these are the WMO's people use to game because they don't skip.
The black WMO's don't say 1.1, BUT they only come with the new sensors since they started making them when they updated the other WMO's.
Unfortunately, it seems like you got one of the "bad" WMO's :(
1st of all. some white 1.1 come without any indications about their revisions on the sticker
2nd : only the new ie 3.0 is said to be 450 dpi [ and it's still subject to debate ], the old ie3.0 and the wmo 1.1 are 400 dpi.
Just buy the first wmo that appears on amazon. I didn't know about the black/white thing but most probably is fake since it comes from an anonymous user and the last version of the sensor comes from 2000 (1.1 sensor according to microsoft's website), so you would have to be the unluckiest person on earth to get an old white wmo.
Relax duda, i already bought it before posting the pic. Just building momentum till it arrives, for the lulz. Seriously tho, amazon dont deliver this item to my country :p and this one costs like 50% from the next one for my location from all the internets. Dont be so naive i did some research before investing 15 hard earned bucks, lovin it(c)Cooller
Can anyone with both a white and a black WMO test this for me? Could you simply plug them both and tell me if they have the same alignment? I ask this because I bought a "backup" WMO (black one) since they probably stopped making them, but it has a very different alignment. I was wondering if this one might be defective, or if all the black WMO's are aligned differently.
Well if I put both mice in the same position and I move them both from one side of my mousepad to the other, the white WMO makes the mouse move pretty much horizontally, while the black WMO makes it move diagonally. I would have to either hold the black WMO at a different angle if I want the mouse pointer to move horizontally while I move horizontally on the mousepad.
