I heard that the system requirements for the PC version of Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim are going to be staggering, possibly even more so than Crysis. Especially if you want to max it out. Games that are made for consoles and then ported to PC's are given major graphical facelifts because PC hardware is so much faster.

Can I play Skyrim on it's highest settings @ 1920x1080 and get a playable framerate with the following hardware setup?

*Core i7 930
*6GB DDR3 1333MHz RAM tri-channel
*MSI Big Bang Xpower X58 motherboard
*Two Radeon HD 5870's (1GBB in crossfire

I can play Crysis on all very high spec on 1920x1080 and get 30-50 fps.

I don't really mind tbh, I always go for the game and not for the visual... I have a crt, so all valid or custom res looks perfect @ 125hz and even crysis runs just fine with that resolution ( but it's a very good looking terrible game, so I wont start it anyway:] ).

When your Machine gets older dont think about Maxing out new or upcoming games. Just reduce some AA resolution etc and enjoy playable fps.

You really should buy a new PC. i5 2600k @ 5Ghz, GTX590. Aim for 60 fps, not less.

OC your cpu and ram to the max with a stable temp (may need better cooling) other then that, youre should be good to go

Your setup should run the game nicely maxed out, unless you consider that to mean 24x AA etc. which is obviously out of the question.

In my oppinion, if one has less than 4 cores / 3 ghz with this game, it's going to struggle on higher settings - no way around it. I am currently upgrading my cpu with this game in mind (primarily).

Contrary to what everyone in this thread is saying. You'll max it out. It's a console port and won't be that intensive.

I can run Crysis on 1920x1080 (1080p) and get 30-50 fps.

Crysis is still the ultimate nemesis of graphics cards. At extremely high settings with 32x AA, it brings even the fastest hardware setups physically possible to it's knees.
