good god i hate smartlaunch.

I've never heard of these, but I'd like to know why you think they suck.

Smartlaunch is a piece of software meant to try to keep the user out of the desktop. It doesn't work very well, it causes problems with fullscreen in some games, and it eats resources. Worst of all, you have to pay for it. It handles CD key management alright, but I'm 99% sure that any LAN center in this day and age didn't pay for licenses anyway.

igames is basically a promotional company. You get game trials and such, and you're expected to take part in the events they do. They were never well received by the visitors, though.

i tried that, and it opens the QL site, but once i enter email/pw information, the login link doesn't work and pressing enter from the text box does nothing =/

Well, depending on your hours, you're not going to bring in many people on weekdays. The majority of your audience will likely be middleschool/highschool kids, or males in their early 20's. That being the case, offering deals like half price on some specific weekday can help you out a lot.

The thing about a LAN center is that you are providing a service which most of your customers can likely get at home. Your selling point needs to be the social side (tournaments, all-nighters, "let's all play x game" discount events, etc) since repeat customers who are only there to play a game that they don't have/can't run yet are likely looking to buy the game/upgrade their hardware so they can do it at home.

Broadcasting music is nice for the girlfriends/lurkers/parents that aren't playing, but make sure it isn't so loud that the players need to crank up the in-game volume to drown it out.
