In the morning today I noticed United States of America czm on IRC so I decided to have a go and ask him for an interview. For the oblivious part of the ESReality readership, Paul ‘czm’ Nelson is one of the best American Quake players in history. At QLAN2 he won the CTF competition with clan Cloud 9 and came second in the prestigious duelling event, having beaten many top players, including Russia Cooller. Before we go on to the interview, Paul would like to apologise if he sounds crazy – he hasn’t slept in more than 24 hours… Here’s a snippet:
For instance there is a certain class of rail shots, where the player tries to jump around a corner as quickly as he can and you rail him at the last possible moment, that are very, very common the past 2 or 3 years. They were considered "nice shots" in 2000. Also, players have a much better understanding of their opponents' strafe patterns these days. Dodging that would have worked several years ago gets you railed 4 times in a row these days.
