Event: CyberX

I don't really know what to believe anymore, either way this has to be the biggest scandal in the history of esports, for better or worse. It will certainly be interesting to follow this in the courts if legal avenues are pursued as indicated. You can read the full press release below:
Cyber X Gaming Inc. wishes to express our regret and apologies to the players, sponsors, and guests of the Cyber X Games for the technical problems encountered during our event schedule. These issues resulted in delays and cancellations of planned activities and event presentations. While the related technical support problems were unexpected we do understand and appreciate the inconvenience and expense that many have encountered as a result of these issues and we are now in the process of structuring compensation programs to deal with team/player related travel and event expenses.
Cyber X Gaming seeks to make it very clear that the resulting technical issues are not related to our major event sponsors and partners; rather, outsourced services, venues, and support organizations who have failed in their responsibilities to execute event assistance as planned. These organizations and groups will be held accountable for all issues associated with the failure to provide contracted and implied services. We are now moving forward to resolve these matters through existing legal avenues and expect additional information to be forthcoming within the next few weeks.
Although we are disappointed with the final outcome of the January event we feel that the errors and mistakes made are easily correctable and we are now starting to implement our plans for our schedule of major events in 2004. We will announce our final schedule within the next two weeks, which will include 4 events with Chicago and Berlin scheduled to take place by August of 2004.
We feel that it is important for the e-sports community to expand and grow beyond the stranglehold of certain organizations and we intend to correct the issues present in Las Vegas to ensure that this growth can and will be realized. We also realize that many of these problems are consistent with issues experienced by all first year events and we will move quickly to remedy these problem areas.
We would like to encourage anyone seeking information or resolution to event related issues to contact the Cyber X Gaming Inc. offices at: (630) 369-2569, or, by email sent to CyberXGaming@aol.com..
Cyber X Gaming Inc. wishes to thank all of our premiere sponsors and those individuals who have provided ongoing assistance and continued support. Although we certainly experienced our share of problems on site, the loyalty and personal commitment shown by many was greatly appreciated and will be rewarded.
In addition to the attempts to correct the existing issues we do want to make it clear that certain competitive organizations, venues, and game publishers went out of their way to interfere with the operations of the Las Vegas event. We have numerous documents and statements available that will substantiate a direct attempt to sabotage the production of the Las Vegas event and we intend to pursue all available legal remedies in an attempt to disclose these efforts to the gaming community.
Based upon the actions taken by some organizations affiliated with this year’s event we have decided that all future CXG events will not include the presentation of Counter Strike or any other game maintaining a direct promotional partnership with the CPL organization.
Cyber X Gaming will announce within the next two weeks its partnership with a television production organization that will guarantee primary event coverage as part of a one-hour show format scheduled for broadcast weekly on national and international channels.
Once again, we do apologize for all of the problems encountered as part of this year’s event and promise the gaming community and industry that we will continue to improve the opportunities associated with e-sports and the players involved.
