at least that explains, why simonb didn't ask any critical questions like: "how come the g.o.a.t. didn't even win one big tournament in the last 12months. why his website sucks so much and delivers almost no content, why he gave up quake3 still knowing there are big money tournaments ahead (we all know the answer, but still would be nice to hear, what he would say), and why he instead learn a new game (cs), where it not even depens on him alone, but on a good team. what does he think about the actual q3 szene? has he watched cooller play latley? what about cpl or eswc. will he attend? is quake3 an option at all? how is the fat polo going?
etc. etc. etc.
but you could tell him, that you are a fatafan and ask him how he likes his own clan or if his products will be any cool...

I have to admit his achievements are great, just like his failures. He still is the most proffesional gamer on earth, but should stop the "I apparantly am the best because i won a lot" act and start the "I apparantly am good because i practise a lot and have a lot of experience" act.

But it has been proven he isnt better then other top-players (like gitzZz/Zulg @ eswc) and i'm sure the only skill a top-player needs to remain a top-player in another game is adaption.

he has also beaten zulg quite badly and hasnt played gitzzz so thats not an entirely true statement :/

indeed this prooves something. Beating zulg after the game was out a few months (too short) and prooving with that he practises way more then the avg player, and thereby it has little to do with "being talented" or "being the best gamer".

And eventho he didnt play GitzZz, GitzZz has still prooven to be the better one by winning the whole tournament. And at eswc it was gitzZz>zulg>fat.
But it is true it has never been proven that gitzZz is the better player in a match against eachother :)

Dont understand me wrong. Fatal1ty is the one that started what i like so much. The whole thing of competetive playing and that is what i like to play and watch. He did speed up a progress that would else have taken much longer, and i do see him as one of the best gamers. Competetive playing owes him much :) so im no fat-h8a or anything, i just think he's a "tad" arrogant =Ox

Most definitely, zulg did not play as much as fata. You are taking that loss out of context, though. At CPL Winter they were playing on Insidious, hardly a strategic map and hardly a good map, for that matter. Have you heard of any tournament after the CPL one using Insidious as a map?

afaik zulg played a shitload before eswc and i just when the game was released and with ut1 in his back he for sure had quite an edge over fatality

He is so not the most pro pro-gamer out there, ever looked at the brood war scene in Korea? People practicing 10 hours a day, playing it every day, and tourneys all the time as well? Take a look at NaDa, Boxer, Yellow, then you know what pro is.

Most guys in the public eye ending up being hated a lot.
Why is fatal1ty the one picked up on most of the time? Because hes the only american guy whos taken up gaming fulltime in america. He hasnt run to korea to game. He has stayed back home and he's successfull , this is something that people cant seem to digest. He has won 3 cpl's , has a car , a bike and his own house. How many of other gamers you like can say the same thing ? His performance is commendable , not ignorable. This guy knows that talent alone wont win you stuff, you got to put in the practice ( just look at your pro footballers and basketballers , they practice much more than 8 hours.).Ok so he didnt win every tournament that he entered in but who has bested zero4 , 14- -1 ( zero4 was at his prime then , i am talking about the negative score in possibly one of the most expected matches the game ever had). Playing 3 or 4 different games and maintaining a high level in all of them is what gaming is about and he does a good job.

someone had mentioned a pro-footballer doesnt have to play bball , heck thats true , but does football get replaced after 2 or 3 years ( like quake , ut1 ) . no right ? =)

when zero4 had changed games initially , then came back to play quake ? i dont think so =) ok so the scores not something big , but heck , if there was billing for that match , it was the most anticipated match of all time ( that you , sir , cannot deny )

I think the frag count is not that important. Z4 was dominated on DM6 as much as Fat was dominated on T4 for example at QCon 2K1. Giving people excuses such as hopping games makes no sense because we don't really know how much it affects people (unless it was Thresh's Q1/Q2 tournament where he played both games at the same time).

I just think it's hilarious that they ask questions about the state of pro-gaming and where he thinks it will be in a few years... Will it ever get big? Etc. etc. etc.

His answers I find hilarious because he'll be saying the same thing he is now, assuming he's still playing, 5 years from now. Nothing will change and it will remain a small niche market. His answers look exactly like the answers Immortal and I used to give all the time... of course this is back during Quake 2 in like 1997-98 ... funny how things haven't got that much better.

I've waited years for the gaming thing to "get big" but of course I eventually saw the light so to speak. I would hope Fat would do the same and not ruin his long-term goals and career over a pipe-dream because eventually, this dream will end. It's inevitable.

Obviously some of you will flame this message and feel I have "sour grapes." However, I don't consider my past as a gamer as a failure, just a waste of time. This warning to Fatality comes from the heart, as I know him personally and he is a warm-hearted individual. Get your education and move on to real life, this gaming thing is not meant to last and surely will offer no security to yourself or your loved ones when the inevitable happens.

Actually I won a total of $30,000, which is still #6 on the all time money list despite not playing seriously since the beginning of 2001. Unkind is at #7 at about $21,200.

You'd think for something that is getting "big time" that players would have pushed people back on the money list more, right? However, if you look at it, players that were playing 3-5 years ago, (and have been inactive over the past 2-3 years), still have won more money than most of the players playing actively over the last 2 years.

Fatality made only $5,000 in 2002 in his tourney winnings... I made more in 97'.
