Hello everyone. Im BicH1tO from Argentina - SouthAmerica. This year I'm travelling to Quakecon, to play the Duel tournament. I send several mails to Quakecon Organization but this doesn't help me so much.
In South America we have good Quakelive exponents in Argentina, Chile and Brazil, but we don't have big tournaments like Quakecon or Dreamhack. Previous years good players like pipi, raynor and realpap from argentina went to quakecon and their performance wasn't bad. So im posting for your help guys. I need help to get a spot in the Quakecon 2011 Duel tournament, I'm also avaiable for TDM if one team needs a ppl but my goal is the Duel.

I'm paying everything by myself its a very spensive travell from Argentina. I'm training a lot with the best here in Southamerica and also playing in USA with 200 ping to adapt they way of playing. I'm ready to do my best I want to face rapha, cooller and the other tops, it's my dream.
For everyone doesnt know us, in southAmerica the skill level is not bad, u guys will be surprise we exist! we have a lot of good players
in Argentina-Chile-Brazil, We deserve the oportunity to prof the world that we can do a good game with the best players in the world.

So Please! If you can help me I'll be forever grateful with you guys.

tournaments, like the ones Dreamhack hosted for years, is solely made because people who love the game decides to arrange it, so if you have no big tournaments in south-america and the game is as popular as you suggest, it's really your own fault. Arrange some. Set up some streams and be visible on irc i'm sure you will get followers pretty soon.

it's obvious this is his dream, you should encourage and support him now on this quakecon thing imo. Getting the eu players on a SA lan is not an easy thing to organize.

you miss the point :p its a different continent. You have to build up something, maybe first online tourneys, then some national, and work up in ranks to make international events. It took years in europe as well, and even here there is not a lot of LAN events in Quake Live, as the niche game it is.

yes, but read how he talks, his dream is to play against the best.. People in the US or we in the eu have a pretty clear understanding what is our skill level, because you can always find a high skilled opponent.
This guy wants this so badly he duels ppl with 200 ping just to train, and he pays the whole trip based on his belief, since there is a chance he will get raped hard even if he is really good because he never played on lan and he never played against the top.

You could say that many have this dream in the world, but tell me one top player from SA then? They deserve a chance too, that's all I'm saying:)

I can only talk about Chile, but in the past this was a quite big region in e-sports. I'd even say that by 2002-2003 there were bigger lan tournaments here than dreamhack by that time, and we also got a cpl stop, local wcg qualifiers, some internationally renowned players in other games and so on. Problem was that this stopped in 2005-2006 when sponsors realized this isn't profitable at all, and last year they started doing events again.

About QL's particular case, we have a ctf lan tournament scheduled for august (if it is as good as last year it should have some good prizes), and I think Chile was one of the very first international QL server locations.
It might be a good idea to stream the said event.

I'm not implying that Chile does exceptionally well at games nor that the argentinian bichito will do well at quakecon (actually I think he can't beat the likes of walter for example). Just saying that at least in this country there were some great events, some of them even comparable or better than lets say early dreamhacks, and that things are starting to look good after a recess, but then again I don't about Argentina's case.

Also Brazil is known for hosting huge events every year, including local eswc, kode5 and wcg lans, and for the cs clan called MIBR, and Peru is finally hosting big events as of 2 years ago.

not being a duel player myself I've been told he's one of the very best southamerican duelers yet not the best, and maybe not even top3, but in my humble opinion he's good enough to compete in the pro duel tournament.

this is obviously a very rare chance for him but also consider that it's been quite a while without southamerican quake players at international lan tournaments, so in the end his inclusion benefits a whole region. The same happens with Australia.

I dont know what they will do at this quakecon, but from the past experience everything suggest that they don't give a fuck about players and it's all about giving out free t-shirts and other advertisement crap(so i don't really think they care at all about him or his plans to go there)... It's always cool to see players from other continents though, so sure i hope for him to make it into the tournament as well.

Seems like i was a bit prejudiced about the level of quake in south-america, but as you said it's been quite a while :)

as you can tell I have no confidence in him whatsoever, but in shape he probably is a top5 duel player from this region so this can lead to a very enjoyable thing to watch (or to troll about when he loses all his matches badly and proceeds to blame jet lag or something).

not really. As far as I know he hasn't won a single duel tournament in ql. Furthermore, "etjx" won an argentinian tournament recently with the lag disadvantage and all, and he's more or less tied with "mesita" (both Chileans). That's easily the top2, so that's why I said a condescending top5 above this comment since the other day I saw bichito lose pretty badly against a lets say top15 player if best, and argentinian players don't even bother playing Chilean tournaments or against Chileans in argentinian servers for a reason.

I don't want this thread to go into a tier list or making people believe that I'm butt-hurt, nationalistic or something since that will lead to an unnecessary off topic. The thing is I'm just making it clear that he's not the best from here by any means, because I'm 100% sure he won't make it to quarter finals, but he should compete in the "pro" duel tournament anyways.
Ofc this point can be proven with an all southamerican tournament.

I'm just making sure that people won't think you are the best here so your group stage elimination doesn't shatter the possibilities of better SA players.
Someone had to be an asshole and say it, and I think you understand that I fully support your entry to the pro tournament.

Personally I have no problem recognizing that title to someone who deserves it, but for that you have to prove it in tournaments and then you can carry that flag.
-Have you won any in QL?
-Why you and other Argentinians don't play in tournaments in which there are Chileans, for example etjx (current southamerican champion), mesita (imho better than the said player), sebas (roflstomped you the other day), dragon (beat etjx in the on going Chilean tournament) and others?
-How about lans?

All this can be again proven with a new southamerican tournament, with players from Chile, Argentina, Brazil, that one Ecuadorian player and others, with matches being hosted in every country, a group stage in which there's only one player from each country and then double elem (or even better just individual matches against every contestant and the winner is determined by the amount of wins), etc.
It only takes one weekend and there's plenty of time before quakecon.

its funny, i dont remember the name of that good chilean player that last year was playing more often on argie quakelive servers but definitely this guy is not the best around here in SA, for instance i played him a couple of times with a macbook white running on 40-50fps max and if i was winning he would quit the match and if i lost to him was by something like -1x1 or 0x-1 on ztn (maps such as dm6 etc wasnt playable cuz my fps was too sucks to aim onto him). i dare there was a tournament around here first and then i would see players like wizard (i believe he would appear) and the other players from brazil as well, like those WHO play and win tournaments.

I had my sights on winning open and was confident that I would, so I know how you feel.. but meh. I'm mostly tired of quake at any rate.

he might not win it but who would be expected to turn up to their 1st international LAN and beat cypher/rapha? I'd say hes got a better chance to win than chance for the simple fact hes willing to spend all this money to play, has the element of suprise and seems eager to compete.

Now, you should see guys, that we're talking so seriously about let BicH1to enter to the QuakeCon.
Please, no everyone wants everytime see SAME PLAYERS in these/those tournaments, cause I believe that is the reason the game was replaced by "LoL" in the IEM6 and some other tournaments.

Let EVEN MORE worthy players (Like HIM) enter to the tournament, and let the competition grow, so the Quake will not go down.

I strongly believe that Bich1to has big chances to do a very good tournament, irrespective of the oponent. I had the opportunity to play with some pro players in europe, like killsen and cooller, and I can assure the only difference with some players here in Argentina is the opportunity they have to participate every week in pro events (in which they gain a lot of practise and experience). So, give Bich1ito the chance.

Regarding this guy AvengeR I can say:

1) you don't play duel
2) in the mods you play, you really sucks.
3) you defend many players, even though many of them were banned from some tourneys due to they cheated in some online tourneys in osp and cpma.
4) whack it off.

quite funny to see very badly written replies to what I wrote by people who don't even know there's a reply function and just knew about this site.

In the same fashion I'll just say this: lets see how he does, or even if he's decent enough to be accepted to compete at the tourney.
I know everyone wants to see new players in the scene, but I'm 100% confident he can't take a map from the likes of walter, kgb, etc. so that's why I'm making it very clear that he's not the best by any means.

Also there's an argentinian tournament going on and he is participating. To become the best of your region you have to first be the best of your country you know.

considering the success of dandaking (who would have met the same sort of criticsm if he were to make a post like this before his good performance was known) this guy deserves a chance too to compete and try to prove himself.

in fact, any guy who is willing to travel thousands of kilometers to attend quakecon should be given a chance, quakecon used to be about fun and I don't see why this should change with a serious invite only tourney.

- don't cast 40:0 rapes, cast something else

- sometimes is good for a change to see a 40-0 rape like we were used to in q3 (I liked some one sided games and I am sure I am not alone on this). That is what early rounds are all about. Every part of a tournament is different. In early stages u might enjoy rapes, in later rounds close games, in semis and finals nerve wrecking games.

- don't think there will be many rapes anyway (few ppl have the balls to enter). It is not like in q3, where it was very rare to find the top players in the internet to play and therefore, entering a lan tourney and playing a top player was a treat. It is not anymore. You can easily find and play them public online or if not, enter some zotac or other online tourney (u will surely find some there).

and do not let me start on the negatives of invite only...

Just watch the VOD of bichito vs doomsday, first 3 maps, as my eyes were almost bleeding of how the fucking choppy that VOD is. What can I say - bichito has pretty good movement, great rail, his lg aim is not up to par though. Watching him playing aero was nice exprience.

So I hope you can get yourself a spot at QCon, GL with it. And yes, even if he'll get destoyed (which is more likely to happen) at least we'll have some funny moments especially if 2GD could cast it :)

as I previously stated in this thread, please don't judge better southamerican players due to his performance so they can get a spot in upcoming tournaments.

He's not SA's top1 at all, which shows from his QL profile and by checking accounts of people who regularly beat him.
Some examples are mesita (doesn't even bother to play him) and etjx (has 59% winning ratio against him according to QL stats, and in those matches he wasn't even training like bichito was)

You know we also played this game a lot, and we also knew that he won't win much there. The difference was that we never said it out loud, because we wanted good for him.

The other South American players are all quit from the battle of getting into Quakecon at the first place, so they are all lost even if they got more skills.
BicH1tO did it! He went to Quakecon, and I think that's amazing, because had enough dedication to make his dream come true.

The question is now that will he learn from what he had the chance to experience, and will he become one of the top players, or not....
