Either way it's a clever move. I'm just curious why it's majored and why there's nothing about esreality on fragster.

Well, it's positive for the community with new sites about e-sports (quake in particular!) and I welcome them. I'm not some esr-diehard fan althouh I've been a frequent visitor for almost a decade. I'm simply questioning how fragster.de is beeing promoted since there doesn't seem to be any kind of mutual agreement between the sites to help eachother?

whats cheap about it? many ppl here dont know about it but would probably enjoy some of the demos. sure a forum post would have also been fine but i dont see any downside in doing a news.

Promotion is a good thing and should be. But it needs "tactfulness", skills and talent, otherway it can go wrong direction, see swine as good example for this, he already fucked up fragster image a bit with his overused promo.

to be fair, all holysh1t.tv got was a forum post! Mainly because that's what their guy chose, but still.

So, I'm not sure why this should be a major news, either. Imo, if there is a major news about these types downloads it should include mentions of fragster, holysh1t.tv, the esl-database, even nVc's thing and any others.
With only one this is clearly advertising, not good news coverage.

Then again, I'm still figuring out how major/non-major is decided by most other admins, so I keep away from it :]

if the post itself looks good enough for the frontpage, then all international news that interest more than a handfull of people or make more than a handfull of people whine in the comments gets major atm
the problem kinda is that non-major news get completely overlooked, even journals and forum posts get more views usually :(

and as you said holysh1t.tv decided to to a forum post, its not what they got. fragster didnt get a major news, they wrote one. imho this discussion is kinda pointless and only held because we usually try to get link our site when its possible. its a fine line between getting more viewers for a site that wants to grow and not annoying people

Without GTV it is the only proper way to watch Quakelive without being on the server as spec durin the match.

I was'nt saying this post was bad and the content is shit, I was replying to guy wondering why swine spams here and there so much.

Swine's intention is not 100% clear. Only advertising fragster (only adding their download section although sites like holysh1t got same), or really trying to inform the community about demos sections at all (would be better to post more than only fragsters').

And tbh I share d1ab's opinion if you take a look at the mass of fragster only news.

i dont know if u have the options to get demos from players, but more ctf demos from the bibs ctf would be nice, again those YYT or some other top teams would be apreciated. no demos on the bibs site, not even cb ctf open cup demos available from top teams.

but overall good work :)

Most top team don't play their matches and prefer to give a def win instead of playing their matches :)

i think esr offers to promote other sites.

we have a simple rule like on other sites, if its good it will be posted major, sometimes maybe its not worth to major. if we decided "wrong" we have the comments/community to clarify the importance.

if a site links to esr, we link back. i personaly will link more often to sites that are nice to esr or to other sites. its a community thing.

fragster is doing often the one-way-street link attitude, please change that. promote other sites/link to other sites on fragster, and you will finally feel the community love.

the title of this news is somehow stupid sensational like "we have the man with the longest nose, watch here". at least it gave me laugh :]

This is great, most QL demos in one place! Thank you. I really hate all these streams with lower quality than GTV-speccing would be. Now there's a chance to see some missed matches without cursing... =)

If I can make a suggestion: I noticed that descriptions aren't full sometimes. For example, Zotac Cups aren't numbered, so if someone would eventually be interested what year that match happened or to search for brackets of that specific cup, they wouldn't be able to find out anything. They'd have to be content with knowing that it was simply one of many Zotac Cups. Can you write full numbered titles in future, pls?

normally all the zotac demos include the matchlink and the date when the match was played
