Logitech's flagship corded gaming mouse - The G5 has taken both sweet appreciations for innovation and hard critiques for its much touted LASER sensor.

Many people find out-of-the-box tracking of G5 to be seriously hindered, but Logitech claims it on the current generation of mousing surfaces which are generally optimized for optical sensors rather than LASERed ones.

However, the solution to all my tracking woes quickly went after flashing the G5's firmware to 1.2 and it was tracking well on nearly all available surfaces.

If your luck is like !@#$%^(and like me) , your G5 would still skip even after the latest firmware update (i.e. 1.2).
But luckily I found the source of the problem. The large LASER sensor of G5 is like a dirt magnet and on looking closely I found dirt particles staring at me. (However looking at the LASER sensor should be avoided and should be examined only after switching off the mouse)
So take an ear bud and go berserk on the sensor and your G5 will be back and headshots will follow.

As you might know the G5's polling rates are somehow locked and cannot be notched up or down by the current breed of mouse overclocking software, but there is a way.

Download Setpoint (Spread love, not hate) version 3.3 an go into advanced game settings option and finally you can apply polling rates from 125Hz to 1000Hz by the press of a button.
(TIP: 1000Hz polling takes a toll of resource utilization but it feels like an AIMBOT!)

You must know that the versatile middle click of G5 is awful hard to click (specially when you are new with it), but a small workaround exists.
Make a profile for the game(s) you play in Setpoint and assign a keyboard shortcut to either left or right tilt instead of using the middle click.
Tilting the wheel on either side is more than awful easy and my grudge against the middle click vanished as soon as I found out about it.

If your G5 cursor is freezing in-game then you can raise the priority of the process KHALMNPR.exe to "Above Normal" and your cursor would never freeze again.

It is more like a personal opinion but I find using slightly heavier setup as easier to aim and smoother to track.
I use 4+4 (4 heavy + 4 light) weights. You can also try aligning the weights differently for a different feel. (Like heavier on the left , lighter on the right)
